Edgworth Bowling Club recently visited us and shared a wonderful story about hope!

The generous contribution of £500 from Turton Rotary Club to EBC, acknowledging Ken Heathcote’s remarkable fundraising efforts. The cheque was received by Kerry Holt, representing EBC, following a talk he delivered to the Rotary Club members.

The donation will go towards a new wheelchair used by members with diverse abilities and supporting their wish to offer inclusive bowling opportunities.

Saturday June 10th 2023 - The Great North Swim - Windermere - 1km. Once again Ken was in the water. He finished the swimming in about 50 minutes. This year there were no problems to test him. The water was good. It was warm and very little wind. There was quite a bit of waiting around. As Ken travelled up in the day the travelling proved to be the most tiring bit! Congratulations Ken!

"It took two years to get this first taster day over the line and how satisfying it was to see it work so successfully. The volunteers were quite extraordinary in how they worked with such panache and unbelievable communication. The day was not about bowling. It was about human kindness, understanding and a love for doing good for those people who desperately need this support. Thankyou to all those who worked on the ground, Andy who delivered the necessary equipment to Kerry who played the first game of bowls with Brenda on her own ground and in doing so made the day so memorable. Edgworth Bowling Club is inviting people who have difficulty bowling due to disability to a taster day on 13th May at the club between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm.
The day will be suitable for anyone who has bowled previously but feels unable to continue due to disability and also for anyone who has never bowled but would like to give it a try to help with rehabilitation and wellbeing following a disability.
We would like to show you the aids available to help you bowl and you can have a go yourself, with help from our volunteers.

Would you like to give it a try and improve your health and wellbeing?

Just complete and return this form or email your details. We will be in touch to discuss your needs, the facilities available and any queries you may have. The club will then confirm your attendance and a suitable timeslot. There is no charge.
