In spite of numerous technical issues this year, our Father Christmas Drive Around the Town, blasting out Christmas Carols and Classics, encouraging children of all ages and adults alike to sit, chat have photographs with Santa Claus, at no charge, has been another great success by Blackpool Carnival. The unbelievable faces of the children, realising that the Big Man was in their street, outside of their house was a joy to behold, making a real difference to so many, especially to those who wouldn't normally be able to for whatever the reason.
Our apologies to those areas we didn't manage to get to but we do our very best to get to as many areas as feasible.
A special thanks go to Jon Mac Tyres, who rescued the sleigh when the tyre came off, to Glen, Tim, Daniel, Jackie, Garry, Chris, Chistian, Simon, Siobham, Navaya and Pearl and of course all of you that make this event so very special to all.
Wishing you all a very healthy and successful new year and please get involved in our Blackpool Carnival annual event, the procession taking place along the promenade roadway and with the stage and other activities on the Comedy Carpet on Sunday the 5th July. We cannot do this by ourselves, we need you all getting involved showcasing to all, what Blackpool is really like and what tremendous talent there is within this great Town.

G B Moore,
Chairman

thankfully, Father Christmas and his reindeers were out and about , eventually on Friday evening and had a great couple of hours around the Watson Road Park area. This is really a tremendous event, seeing the children's faces coming to grips that Santa Claus is actually in their street, outside of their house, coming to see them to ensure they have been good, being able to sit with and talk to him, absolutle fantastic. As an aside this is a completely free event, if people are able to donate, that's fantastic, anything raised allows Father Christmas to feed his animals, however on the other side, he wouldn't want children miserable at their windows because their Mum and Dad couldn't afford whatever small charge being levied, that is why there is no charge! Anyway thanks to all in that area on Friday.
Yesterday, Father Christmas and his entourage were at the Morrisons Superstore at Squires Gate and the old fashioned saying of 'there's nowt so q***r as folk' is so true and it really does make you wonder why some people have children because the number of times the Mum or Dad dragged their child or children from one side of the store entrance to the other, merely to avoid coming past Santa Claus, unbelievable! Anyway all others had a lovely time and so many said to us that this really had made their children's and even their own day, this is what this event is all about.
Regarding tomorrow, we shall again be out and about after probably four pm, subject to the Reindeers being back to normal but all are good at this time, please check this site for the area being covered. However, please understand, if you have children or you yourself, no matter how old you are and you want to sit, talk and have a photograph with the Big Man, there is no pressure to donate or not, we just want everybody to come out, have a laugh, even a dance in the street and just get in the Christmas Spirit and enjoy yourselves, especially our children, but everybody welcome.
Looking forward to see you all during the next few days before Christmas day itself.
Many thanks to Morrisons giving us the opportunity to being just outside their store entrance and also to the Rotary Club of Blackpool Sunrise for their financial support.

I mentioned earlier that we had a problem last night, with one of our reindeer but we were anticipating still being able to be out and about this evening. Unfortunately, the problem is a little worse than at first expected and so I have taken the decision not to be out this evening, really sorry about this, Father Christmas is not at all happy but I don't have any real choice in the matter. However, the area detailed earlier today that we should be covering, we shall be with you tomorrow, looking forward to seeing you all.

NB. (I did receive a phone call from a distressed lady who was most upset and distressed at the thought of an animal being injured whilst out with Father Christmas, I had to assure her that this was my way of describing what happened last night on the way home, there really was not an animal involved and therefore no animal was hurt in any way. Before starting this year, we discovered that one of our trailer tyres had a puncture, which obviously was mended but the person who put the tyre back onto the trailer, put the bolts around the wrong way and also did not ensure they were screwed on tightly and thus on our return last evening, the bolts snapped and the wheel come off the trailer.. These bolts are unusual and although expected to be available today, are not and therefore the trailer won't be ready until sometime tomorrow morning, well in time for Father Christmas to be on his travels on time from 4.0pm tomorrow evening.)
My sincere apologies for any worry or distress caused.

Gosh it was a little wild and windy last night wasn't, but that didn't deter Father Christmas venturing out into South Shore , although not too near the promenade area. Again, we met some lovely people, the children and some adults I might add, all were so surprised and delighted to see that Father Christmas had come to see them in their street and in spite of the weather, all had a tremendous time. It is never too early to get in with the Christmas Spirit, good on you all!
We did have a small issue with one of our reindeer on our return home, who was unwell but seems to be recovering and all being well and weather permitting, tonight Santa Claus will be in the area between Lytham Road, Windermere Road, St Annes Road and St Martins Road, looking forward to seeing all in that area, do please come and join in the fun.

Last night was the first of this year's driving around the Town with Santa Claus in his sleigh, blasting out Christmas classics and Carols, what a fantastic event this is. We stop in as many side streets as we can safely, we invite everybody to come and sit with Father Christmas, have pictures and have a chat, and it isn't only for children, the older ladies think it's wonderful to have their photo taken with the Big Man, have a giggle, makes their day and even receive a small present, no charge whatsoever, although donations welcome.
BUT, BUT, BUT, if you happen to driving past where we have stopped, please slow down, we have hi-viz personnel at the front and at the back of the sleigh and even though we make ourselves absolutely visible, waving and requesting drivers to slow down, some drive as if they own the road and they are aware of what is going on, yet they are not. There are excited children rushing from their homes or just happen to be passing, their one thought is seeing Father Christmas, never mind the danger about rushing across the road yet we get called all sorts of names by car drivers, threatened, merely because they have had to slow down as they pass what is going on, taking just a few seconds longer than normal!
Of course we want everybody to enjoy and remember our visit to their street but not at any risk to anybody, not on our watch, but please drivers, a very small minority thankfully, have a little patience and start behaving and driving sensibly!
