What's that dog? 🤔 It's the Pharaoh Hound 🐾

Venerated by the ruling dynasty of Egypt, the Pharaoh Hound can be seen on their ancient Egyptian tombs. Indeed mummified dogs found in the tombs bear a remarkable resemblance to the modern Pharaoh. The breed was, however, native to Malta where he was used for hunting rabbits. It is thought Phoenician sailors took dogs with them on their travels and reached Egypt where he gained his nomenclature. The Pharaoh hound is relatively new to the UK appearing here in the 1970s.

Happy Corgi Day to all the adorable little-legged lowriders out there 🍞

Slightly smaller than the Cardigan, not quite as long in body and with a smaller ear and straighter front legs, the Pembroke was traditionally docked, but that differentiation no longer exists since the docking ban. However some breeders have worked hard to produce natural bobtails. The Pembroke has always been the more popular breed, perhaps helped by the Royal patronage it has received since the reign of King George VI and carried on by Queen Elizabeth II 👸
