Marking the end of Ramadan - we wish you an Eid Mubarak from the team at Soul City Arts.

We hope you have a blessed day and connect with family and friends. We ask you to also spare a thought and prayer for those who are less fortunate, those who are enduring oppression and injustice right now.

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close for millions around the world, we’re taking a moment to pause and reflect on the beautiful sense of community we’ve shared.

We were honoured to have Birmingham’s Poet Laureate, Ayan Aden, grace the recent Ramadan Streets event with a deeply moving performance.

Her words, echoing beneath the covered area of the Gil Merrick stand at the Birmingham City Football Ground, captured the true spirit of the month.

Press play to hear her beautiful poem, woven alongside some of our favourite highlights from a memorable few nights at St. Andrew’s, where over 18,000 attended.

What has been your favourite memory of Ramadan this year? Let us know in the comments.

Thank you for making history with us…

From 4th-8th March 2026, we brought back Ramadan Streets for a second year with our partners Birmingham City Football Club, at their iconic ground. More than 18,000 of you visited a bigger, bolder and more controlled event - this was our attempt to level up the experience from last year. More options, more art, more culture and bigger vibes.

Remembering why we started it - a response to the chaos on Coventry Road - we worked to reimagine the Ramadan experience to make it family-friendly and welcoming.

We hosted many visitors from across the world, including France, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year unforgettable!

With warm regards,
The Soul City Arts team

The sad passing of Councillor hits the city of Birmingham tonight. He was one of my biggest supporters, believing in my work and our organisation. This quick mural I painted for him at his old primary school Heathfield Primary at his request to help out. It was also where he was governor. Clean Air and climate change was one of his passions - hence the theme of this mural. It’s not often I drop everything to do something like this but when Waseem asked me for something - It was an honour and pleasure to support as he always made time and supported me.

Also seen in the next picture is him standing in our Port Hope warehouse - he was always a guest in our space. He stands here In our venue at the grand finale of his brainchild Spirit of Pakistan festival. Whilst I was working away in Australia last summer - again somehow I found myself simultaneously supporting from afar, on late night calls helping with the branding and organising of the finale event - all whilst being 11 hours difference in time zone. That’s how I responded to Councilor Waseem Zaffar.

This is not to gloat about how much I did for him - but to show how much he did for us and why it was always a pleasure and duty to respond to Waseem.

He was a genuine friend and supporter that was making a difference, especially for those of minority background like myself, that was trying not to just making a mark - but to leave a big splash that had lasting legacy- I guess it’s a bit like this wall and I hope Heathfield preserve this mural at the school in his honour.

Waseem Zaffar - a true son of Birmingham.

It was great to welcome the lads from ‘Blues 4 All’ () for our final night of Ramadan Streets.

With a core group of Brummies and an ever-expanding membership, this diverse supporters group strives to make Birmingham City FC one of the most all-inclusive and culturally diverse clubs in the country 💙⚽️

After a hugely popular run in 2025, Ramadan Streets returned to Small Heath for its second year. From Wednesday 4th to Sunday 8th March, we invited people of all backgrounds to join our immersive, 5-day cultural night market celebrating the spirit, community and shared experience of Ramadan ✨

Held in an open-air setting at the home of BCFC and supported by , we were blown away to see more than 18,000 people attend across the week!

We transformed the stadium car park into a vibrant, souk-like environment where communities gathered to break their fast, share food and experience the cultural richness of the holy month.

From smash burgers to matcha, our food trucks and artisan vendors brought the flavour. Meanwhile, our covered reflective art zone - featuring the popular ‘Portraits of Birmingham’ photography exhibition - offered a space to retreat and express creativity. Good food for both the body and the soul! 🎨📸

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year unforgettable!
