Looking for something to keep you entertained next Sunday? Look no further - we've got a number of authors visiting North Bridlington Library next week for SpringFest 2026!

📚 12 - 1pm: The Pie Eating Man's Guide to Reading for Mental Health - Mark Grimes, aka The Pie Eating Man and author of The Pie Eating Man's Guide to a Healthy Mind, brings a special version of his successful podcast to SpringFest, talking to local author, Claire Jennison, about the benefits of reading and writing for mental health.

📚 2 - 3.30pm: Exploring the Shadows of Storytelling with Alex North - Writer - Alex North's first novel, The Whisper Man, was a Sunday Times, New York Times and international bestseller. It has been translated into over 30 languages, and is currently being adapted for film, starring Robert DeNiro, Michelle Monaghan and Adam Scott. It was followed by The Shadow Friend and The Half Burnt House, and his latest novel is The Man Made of Smoke.

📚 4 - 5.30pm: The Pie & Mash Detective Agency with JM Hall - J.D. Brinkworth is the shared pseudonym of Jo Dinkin and Catherine Brinkworth--a pair of award-nominated writers who recently added "private detectives" (courtesy of a suspiciously cheap online course) to their creative resumes. Their debut novel introduces readers to Jane Pye and Simon Mash, a millennial couple armed with trench coats, questionable investigative skills, and six weeks of night-class detective training as they dive into a case involving multiple missing women and decades of rumours.

Horror fans, have we got something for you!

Join authors Katherine Clements, Matt Wesolowski, and Neil McRobert from the Northern Weird Project at Pocklington Pocela Centre next Friday for an evening of spookiness. The Northern Weird Project is a set of novellas from authors based in the North of England and who are also engaging with the North as setting, subject and character. They incorporate dark humour, sinister folklore, lurking horror and uncanny incidents including a strange occurrence on a train, a young boy's disappearance in a village, and the unearthed danger beneath an ancient peat bog. We'll be joined by three of the authors from this collective as they discuss their novels, inspiration, and all things a little bit weird!

Join us for a special evening with Eleanor Buchanan as she discusses her new novel The Sea Stone Sisters, a sweeping dual timeline story following four sisters scattered across the world after the fateful destruction of the legendary Sisters of Skara standing stones.

Their fractured 1930s journey echoes into the present day, where Roz Chatton uncovers the family's long hidden history through a mysterious painting and an inherited ring. This immersive tale explores family secrets, resilience, and the powerful pull of home.

Eleanor will be joined in conversation by fellow author Lucy Nichol, offering readers an insightful and engaging discussion about the novel's themes, inspiration, and characters.

Today is Bookshop Day, and we'd love to shout out The Beverley Bookshop!
