🎶Grammy-nominated American folk singer-songwriter, Mary Gauthier is coming to East Riding Theatre on the 19th November 2027.

Mary Gauthier is a Grammy-nominated American folk singer-songwriter and author, whose songs have been covered by performers including Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Kathy Mattea, Boy George, Jimmy Buffett, Bettye Lavette, and many more. She has won awards from the Americana Music Association, International Folk Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards, the GLAMA Awards, and the UK Americana Association. Her songs have been placed in film and TV, including “Yellowstone” and “Nashville”.

Her latest record, Reckoning, returns Gauthier to a story telling mode in the style of her breakthrough releases, “Mercy Now”, and “Drag Queens in Limousines.” Its songs tell clear, focused stories about people facing turning points and making choices that shape their own lives and the world around them, and brings a sense of hope to a troubled time. Gauthier’s songwriting brilliance always offers beauty in sorrow, healing in loss, and a perspective only an artist of uncommon generosity can give.

Mary has also written on book on the healing power of music and song called “Saved by a Song” (St. Martin’s Press), and is a public speaker, focused on healing and the arts.

🎭The Actress - 5th February 2027🎭

London, 1660. Charles II has reopened the theatres, and for the first time in history, women are allowed to perform on the English stage. Determined to outmanoeuvre his rival, Thomas Killigrew resolves to cast a real woman in a leading role. But finding the right actress proves no easy task.

Respectable women refuse to risk the scandal, while the local prostitutes are dismissed as unsuitable. Instead, two unlikely candidates emerge: Peggy Hughes, an ageing courtesan searching for a second chance, and Anne Marshall, an educated but penniless Puritan.

Adapted and expanded from its acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe one-act version and inspired by extraordinary true events, The Actress shines a light on the remarkable women who changed British theatre forever.

Before there was Nell Gwyn.
Before Sarah Bernhardt.
Before Judi Dench…

There was the first.
