Guess the Berko ground!

🏆 With the Berkhamsted Sporting Excellence Awards coming up on Thursday 4th June, we are celebrating both our future stars and our historic roots.

Starting today, we're doing a special “Then & Now” Guessing Game. We’ll be posting archive photos of local sports grounds from 100 years ago.
• Can you guess where they are?
• Can you name the club that started at this ground, and who plays here now?

Drop a comment if you’re ready to test your local knowledge, and tag a teammate who thinks they know Berko history better than anyone else! 👇

Answers will be revealed tomorrow evening.... let’s see how we know our pitches in town!

For Paul, the pitch isn't just about drills and tactics; it’s a "safe harbour." While some may focus on the scoreboard, Paul champions a different kind of win: the moment a player with SEN feels seen, valued, and empowered to play.

Paul is a coach who truly believes sport is a universal right, not a privilege, when we remove barriers, we let talent shine!

The BSG "Excellence" Files

Every week, we’re looking back at our last year winners to see what it really means to win a Berkhamsted Sporting Excellence Award.

These awards are about more than just trophies; they are a celebration of the dedication, coaching, talent and community spirit that fuels the future of sport right here in Berkhamsted. Last year, that spirit earned MILES POULTON the title of RISING STAR of the YEAR.
Today, Miles isn't just a winner, he’s an inspiration to every young player at Berko Hockey.

If you want a masterclass in "levelling up," Miles is the blueprint. Since his win last year, he’s been unstoppable:
- The Big Leagues: Miles was snapped into hockey Premier League in Division 1
- The National Stage: He earned his spot in the U18 England Hockey National Talent Academy
- The Blueprint: Miles is passing on the skills and coaching the next generation of Berko Hockey keepers.

Who is the next Rising Star currently training at your club? The 25/26 nominations are officially open.

The Prize: £1,000 towards the athlete’s coaching and facilities (via the winner's club)

Award sponsored by: Berkhamsted FC

A nomination is more than just a trophy, it’s the spark. You’re giving the young athletes the stage and the status to go from local talent to a sporting icon. Every elite career starts with a single person who saw the potential, so be the one to put their name on the map!
