Webster's Ragtime Trio with Phil Doleman | Tues 09 June : a few tickets left!
Unique opportunity to see this amazing band - they've come all the way from Texas!
BOOK NOW! click on the link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/websters-ragtime-trio-introduced-by-phil-doleman-tickets-1987252468629?aff=oddtdtcreator
WEBSTER’S RAGTIME TRIO is a central Texas-based throwback to a style of music that went largely unrecorded. Around the turn-of-the-century, it is said that there was lots of string bands, i.e. mandolin, banjo, guitar, bow cello, playing the popular hits of the day including classic ragtime compositions like the Maple leaf rag. Although that type of music was composed for marching bands and solo piano performance, it is hard not to notice how joyful it sounds played on acoustic stringed instruments. And they don’t stop there, they more than dip their toes into ragged Texas Fiddle tunes from the 78 RPM era, even venturing across the pond to play the occasional archaic Polish mazurka, and/or striking up borderland polka Harkening back to the glory days of Texas.
Alexander Jones, Will Webster, and Westen Borghesi make up this fine trio.
PHIL DOLEMAN (introducing/supporting) Phil’s love of vintage blues, jazz, novelty, and jug band music shines through as he blows the dust off obscure old songs and gives new life to classics. With just his big voice and driving rhythms on both ukulele and banjo, he’ll take you back to the juke joints and speakeasies of 100 years ago. Phil is based in Belper, Derbyshire.

Chris Lewis-Jones will be PERFORMING ‘Regarding the River’ on Wed 27 May, 7.30-8.30pm. This live art and spoken word performance is free to attend. Everyone welcome!
REGARDING THE RIVER
"A performative exploration and celebration of The River Derwent, the campaign to save it…and 110 years of Dada!
This year marks the 110th anniversary of the founding of Dada. To mark this event, artist Chris Lewis-Jones will begin his ‘Regarding the River’ performance at No.28 by reading the Dada Manifesto, as performed by Hugo Ball, dunce’s cap on his head and crab’s claws on his hands, at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich on July 28th 1916. The reading will be followed by a Dada-inspired homage to the River Derwent and the tracing of ‘52 steps’, representing the 52 miles of the river’s length, from the fountain in the Market Place (weather permitting) to No.28.
The event starts at 7.30, lasts for about an hour, and is free. A collection will be taken in order to cover the cost of the venue hire. Bring your own drinks".

Our Headline Act is the fantastic ALEX HYLTON
Alex Hylton is one of the fastest rising comics in the Midlands and a presenter and writer for BlueMoonRisingTv.
A youthful, energetic act with relatable anecdotes of adolescence, mixing in one-liners and a smudge of surrealism to create a likable and unique style, Alex is tipped by many to go all the way.
Plus ... Becky Heaviside, Josh Taylor, Lizzy Lenco, Rich Austin.
And all being held together with the grace of a dog on stilts by your compere Rob Coleman"
