This time last week, the ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall team came together for our September QTM, ‘Shaping a Digital Venue’.

Beginning with a look back at the world-class events we’ve delivered so far this year, followed by a performance update from Rob McConnell, our CEO, and a presentation from our Core Systems Team, the session centred around Technology Modernisation: Building for the Future.

Together, we unpacked our Technology Roadmap for 2026/27 and explored the innovative developments underway as we continue to become a more technologically focused organisation, unlocking new opportunities for optimisation across our venues and operations.

The session concluded with a fireside Q&A, opening the floor for colleagues to ask questions and explore the plans in more detail. Everyone came away energised by the progress already being made and excited for what’s still to come!

GOOD LUCK 👏

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Rory's Miles 2 Mayo - The Trilogy, an incredible challenge led by Irish rugby legend Rory Best and a team of business leaders who will walk 9 marathons in 9 days across Ireland in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.

Suzanne Wylie, Chair of ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall is among those taking part, helping to ensure that no child faces cancer alone.

We wish Suzanne, Rory and all of the participants the best of luck over the next 9 days!

Two young women from the Ashton Community Trust have completed a six-week work experience placement at ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall, gaining first-hand insight into career pathways within Belfast’s growing events and cultural sector.

Ieesha Inglis and Mekdelawit worked alongside teams across HR, Marketing and Communications, and Event Management, gaining behind-the-scenes experience of the breadth of work that goes into delivering events across three of Belfast’s best-known venues.

Rob McConnell, CEO of ICC Belfast, commented:

A team challenge with a difference.💡

This morning, members of the ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall & Ulster Hall Hall team joined tourism professionals from across Northern Ireland for the Northern Ireland Tourism Industry Team Challenge at the Europa Hotel.

Delivered with Lightbulb Teams, 'Give a Hand' challenged teams to build prosthetic hands for children living with limb loss and limited access to prosthetic care.

This was more than a team building exercise, today offered a powerful perspective on the people behind the cause and the difference one small action can make.

The team left feeling energised and proud to have played a part in something with such meaningful impact. Thank you for having us!

On Friday, Conal McSwiney, our Business Support Executive, and Jude Anderson, our Corporate Sales Support Assistant, represented ICC Belfast at Foodstock - Community Solidarity Hub's School Leavers Day.

This was an excellent opportunity for the team to speak one to one with students who have recently left school, showcase the range of career opportunities we are proud to offer across our organisation and discuss how Workplus can provide an amazing stepping stone into the events industry.

Both thoroughly enjoyed the event, meeting many aspiring young people and even coming away with some new knowledge themselves.

Back in April, 40 volunteers from the ICC Belfast team and our hospitality partner Pan & Pour travelled to CAN (Compass Advocacy Network)’s 11-acre Lislagan Farm in Ballymoney to take on an outdoor makeover project under the direction of Splash Projects.

As an organisation, we are committed to having the community at heart and being at the heart of the community, and this project brought that commitment to life. Working together, the team transformed the outdoor area surrounding a 200-year-old cottage, creating a welcoming space for CAN service users and their families to enjoy.

It was an incredible project to be part of, and the team came away with a real sense of pride in what they had achieved and the opportunity to give back to our local community.

Check out the full video below, which captures the day perfectly.
