🏃‍♀️❤️🖤 **Great North Run Adventure!**

A huge congratulations to our Murlough AC member **Catherine Dornan** on completing the legendary **Great North Run!** 👏👏

From a last-minute decision to catching the early flight from Belfast, Catherine embraced the whole adventure — incredible atmosphere, fantastic crowds, stunning coastal views and a very proud finish! 🏅

A brilliant achievement and a memory to treasure. ❤️

And what’s next…? **London Marathon 2026!** 👀🇬🇧

With another successful ballot entry, Catherine is wondering if she should try the lottery next! 😂🍀

🦋🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ ABI’S BUTTERFLY BREEZE 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦋

What a fantastic sight it was to see the streets of Portaferry filled with runners earlier today as the community came together for the wonderful Abi's Butterfly Breeze 🦋❤️

This amazing community fundraiser continues to raise vital funds for Bright Futures, an Inspire led independent and confidential professional counselling service supporting young people aged 14–24 and their families, with referrals through GP practices.

The event is held in memory of Abi, and we want to give a very special shout-out to Abi’s mum, Cathy Brodie whose incredible hard work, dedication and commitment continue to make this such a special event. 🦋

At Murlough AC, we know only too well how important running, movement and being part of a supportive community can be for our own wellbeing — so it was a real pleasure to support such a meaningful cause by doing something so many of us love. ❤️🖤

And Cathy, thank you for everything you do. Your dedication to keeping Abi’s memory alive while helping to support young people and families is truly inspirational. 🦋❤️

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🇬🇧➡️🇮🇪 BREAK 4 THE BORDER HALF MARATHON 🇮🇪🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

What a race! What a route! What an achievement! 👏👏

This morning saw some of our Murlough AC members take on something a little bit special — the Born 2 Run Break 4 the Border Half Marathon 🏅

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Ciara and Robert & June on completing their very FIRST half marathon! 🥳👏

Taking on 13.1 miles for the first time is a massive achievement in itself, but to make your debut over a route as unique and spectacular as this one makes it even more special.

And what a route Born 2 Run have created…

Starting at Greenbank Industrial Estate in Newry, runners head towards the Albert Basin before joining the beautiful Newry–Carlingford Greenway.

From there, the race really comes into its own.

The route winds its way along the shores of Carlingford Lough, surrounded by stunning scenery, before passing through Omeath and continuing towards the finish at Carlingford Marina. 🌊⛰️

In fact, around 90% of the course is traffic-free, following the Greenway along the spectacular coastline of Carlingford Lough. 🇬🇧➡️🇮🇪

And then there is that finish… ❤️👌

After 13.1 miles, arriving into Carlingford Marina with the finish line waiting must have been some feeling!!

We are very proud of you all!

A huge shout-out too to Born 2 Run Events for putting on such a fantastic and genuinely different race🙌🙌

🍺🥂 B**R & BUBBLES 5K – FINNEBROGUE WOODS 🌳🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A fantastic evening for our Murlough AC runners at the B**r & Bubbles 5K at Finnebrogue Woods, all in aid of this year’s very worthy charity Cancer Fund for Children 💛

The 5K route certainly wasn’t an easy one, with challenging woodland trails and plenty of hills to keep everyone working hard! 🌳⛰️

And then… just a few minutes after the race got underway, the heavens opened! 🌧️🤣

Drenched would probably be an understatement — but our runners took it all in great spirits, knowing they were running for a fantastic cause. ❤️

And there was certainly plenty to look forward to at the finish line, with B**r, Prosecco and lots of other well-deserved offerings waiting for the runners! 🍺🥂👏

Our Murlough runners were delighted to take part and enjoy such a brilliant event.

⭐ A special mention to our junior member James Tumelty, who had a fantastic debut over 5K, clocking a very strong first-time finish! What a way to make your debut, James! 👏🏃‍♂️

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part! 🎉

A massive thank you to the organisers M.B. McGrady & Co and everyone involved in putting together such a brilliant event. We have no doubt the fundraising for NI Cancer Fund for Children will have been a huge success. 💛
