On International Music Day, we’re looking back at a Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann like no other. 🎻

This year’s first ever Fleadh in Belfast became the biggest in our 75 year history. 🪗

A small city with a big heart welcomed musicians, dancers, singers and music lovers from across Ireland and around the world. Thank you again to everyone who made it possible.

As we celebrated together in Ireland’s only UNESCO City of Music, we created memories that will last a lifetime.

Today, as we celebrate the universal language of music, press play and relive the eight unforgettable days when we came for the music and stayed for the craic. 🎥

A look back on a fantastic night at the Ulster Hall as Ceol na Cruinne – the Comhaltas International Showcase Concert brought musicians from across the world together during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026. 🌍🎶

Performers from North America (Canada), Singapore, Vietnam, Britain, Australia (Sydney), Japan, Italy and Dubai took to the stage for a wonderful celebration of traditional music, singing and dancing.

Comhghairdeas to Cathal Hayden, recipient of the 2026 Michael A. Flanagan Traditional Irish Music Banjo Award. 👏🪕🎻

A renowned fiddle and banjo player from County Tyrone, Cathal is known to many through Four Men and a Dog, whose debut album Barking Mad became one of the most successful Irish traditional albums of its time.

The award was presented during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026 at the Assembly Buildings, Belfast.

Established by the Flanagan family in 2016, the award honours the legacy of the legendary Flanagan Brothers and recognises musicians whose contribution to traditional music reflects the excellence, innovation and passion represented by Michael Flanagan throughout his life.

An evening of celebration at Belfast City Hall for the Ard-Ollamh Awards Ceremony, honouring Reverend Gary Hastings and the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association in recognition of their contribution to Irish traditional music and culture.

President Catherine Connolly attended the ceremony alongside Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly and Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald MLA.

The celebrations concluded with performances from both Reverend Gary Hastings (accompanied by Len Graham) and the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association.
