Belfast Titanic Triathlon

Belfast Titanic Triathlon Belfast's most spectacular sporting event, to be held on Sunday 3rd September 2017. Swim, bike and run through the heart of the city.

Delivered by Community Multisport CIC, a not-for-profit organisation, the Belfast Titanic Triathlon is one of the country's biggest and most spectacular triathlons. Transition is based in the iconic Custom House Square. Participants swim in the harbour in the shadow of Titanic Belfast before cycling around the Harbour Estate below the famous cranes. The last leg takes runners through the heart of the city and past City Hall.

It's with great disappointment that we have to confirm that the Belfast Titanic Triathlon won't take place this year. As a group of volunteers, it simply isn't viable under current conditions.

We will be working with Active over the next couple of weeks to get refunds made to all those who carried forward entries from last year. This process might take a while so please bear with us. All monies will be refunded.

We will then take stock and see whether the event is sustainable going forward.

Many thanks for your support in previous years. Stay active, stay well.

On what should have been race day, it was glorious in Belfast today. The Titanic slipway had just a few tourists instead of a buzzing finish chute.

These are extraordinary times and we send our best wishes to all within the triathlon family. Stay safe, stay active, and we’ll see you next year.

You will already be aware that this year's event has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

Race entries will automatically be deferred to the 2021 edition. However, if you would rather receive a refund, please follow the procedure below.

Send an email to [email protected].

In the Subject line - put REFUND - FIRSTNAME LASTNAME - DATE OF BIRTH

e.g. REFUND - JOE BLOGGS - 12/05/1980

There is no need to put any comment in the body of the email as your full name and date of birth should allow us to make a full refund. This refund will be paid by Active to the card used for the initial entry. Refunds will be made in mid-September as Active only pay out twice each month. Your request must be made by Friday 28th August, and any refunds requested after this date will be subject to our standard terms.

All participants left at that date will be automatically entered into the 2021 event, which we hope to host on Sunday 5th September. You will have the option to change race distance within your MyActive account. This means that you will have an entry for 2021 at the 2020 price.

Once again, we wish to express our disappointment at having to cancel the event but we are not prepared to endanger our participants, volunteers and officials during these difficult times.

We wish you good health and look forward to seeing you in 2021.

19/08/2020

Please note that all entrants have been emailed twice using the address that they submitted when entering the race. If you have not received these emails, please check your junk folder.

If you still cannot find them, email us at [email protected] for information regarding deferral or refund.

Safe safe. Be responsible.

Cancellation of Belfast Titanic Triathlon 2020

It is with huge disappointment that we announce that the Belfast Titanic Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday 27th September, has been cancelled due to the current Coronavirus pandemic. This difficult decision has been taken following consultation with a range of stakeholders and with reference to public health advice.

We have waited as long as possible to make this decision in the hope that the situation would improve, but it is now apparent that conditions will not be suitable to host the event safely.

With the current level of Covid-19 cases causing concern across these islands and with a recent spate of clusters within Northern Ireland, we believe that it would be irresponsible to host an event that would result in the gathering of more than a thousand people from a wide range of locations.

All those who have already entered the event will be contacted by email over the coming days with information regarding a deferment or refund.

The health and wellbeing of residents, participants, volunteers and officials is paramount.

We encourage you to stay active during these difficult times, while adhering to your local public health advice. Our thoughts go out to all those who have been impacted by Coronavirus.
