Raising the Roof!

Or actually sticking it down more to be honest...

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have secured a grant to help mend the Accidental Theatre roof! 🎭🎪

This vital project was made possible by the Small Grants Programme supported by The Linbury Trust.

Keeping our building watertight ensures we can remain viable, safe, and thriving for our wonderful audiences, artists, and local community well into the future and as a not-for-profit theatre, keeping our building safe and secure is vital to our resilience and long-term sustainability.

We are incredibly grateful to the Theatres Trust and The Linbury Trust for supporting projects like ours that make a big impact on local theatres across the UK.

This months headliner is Ceili-Rae Minogue, catch them at Accidental after their sold out show Emotional Rollercoaster at The Black Box.

Looking for something raw, weird, or brand new? From comedy "nerfings" to career-boosting masterclasses, here is your late-spring lineup at Belfast’s home for the experimental.

THE LIVE STAGE 🎤
Never Seen It Film Club (Sun 31st May) Closing out May with the "must-watch" classics you’ve somehow managed to miss your entire life. Bring your popcorn. 🍿

Accidental Open Mic Night (Thurs 11th June) Catch local legends and brave first-timers testing out fresh, unfiltered material. Admission is free, but the laughs are priceless.

Triggered (Sat 13th June) The high-stakes comedy game show! Comics try to survive their sets without hitting audience "triggers." If they slip up, they get nerfed. 🔫

Cosmic Jam (Thurs 18th June) The ultimate experimental open mic. Bring an instrument, your voice, or just your ears for a night of completely improvised sounds. 🎸

Introduction to Producing: Part 2 (Sat 30th May) Rounding out our deep dive into how shows actually happen. This week covers the nitty-gritty of budgeting, people management, and landing the perfect pitch.

Negotiating the Industry (Thurs 4th June) A one-off masterclass with Natalie Murphy-West on navigating fees, contracts, and setting boundaries in the arts. Essential survival skills for any freelancer.

Applications are now open to take part in this years Bitter Fringe.

The Bitter Fringes is a series of stand up and comedy shows by new and local comedians, testing out their stuff before they head to the Edinburgh Fringe. Or acts having a go at longer sets and full shows for the first time.

Heading to a festival like the Edinburgh Fringe can be very daunting, especially if your a new act. Some are too scared to go, some are too lazy and most simply can’t afford the flight. The Bitter Fringes was set up to give acts the opportunity to have the experience and practice of putting on a full show without the travel and price tag.
