MEET THE JUDGES

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are delighted to introduce another exceptional member of our panel: Valerie Wilson.

Valerie is a former Captain in the Territorial Army with operational service in Iraq, who has successfully transitioned into a senior leadership role in cybersecurity. She currently serves as Service Operations Director at BT’s Security Operations Centre in Belfast, leading a team responsible for protecting critical public and private sector infrastructure across the UK.

Valerie’s achievements since leaving the Armed Forces have been widely recognised—she was named Business Leader of the Year at the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards in 2024. Known for her calm, decisive leadership across operational strategy, crisis management, and team development, Valerie brings a wealth of military and corporate expertise to our 2026 judging panel.

Jacqueline is a serving member of the Royal Air Force, bringing with her the core values of professionalism, service, and commitment that define the UK Armed Forces. Her continued service reflects a deep dedication to both the defence of the nation and representing the military community with pride and purpose across Northern Ireland.

Throughout her RAF career, Jacqueline has been a passionate advocate for serving personnel and veterans alike—actively supporting initiatives that promote recognition, remembrance, and care for the wider military family.

Her active-duty leadership experience and strategic insight ensure our 2026 judging panel accurately reflects and honours the voices of both current and former members of the Armed Forces.

MEET THE JUDGES

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are delighted to introduce another fantastic member of our panel: Steve Black.

Steve spent 21 years in the Royal Engineers, serving predominantly within EOD & Search. His career included operational deployments across Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Mali, and Algeria, culminating in his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel—a time in command he endearingly cherishes.

Now thoroughly embedded in industry, Steve has held senior roles at Thales UK, BAE Systems, and currently, Inzpire. Outside of work, he is married to Susan, a primary school teacher, and deeply enjoys the everyday challenges of raising two teenagers.

He’s also recently taken to riding motorbikes to tackle being on the wrong side of 50 (and mostly because his son wants to join the RAF! 😂). Steve’s extensive military background and defence industry expertise make him a great asset to our 2026 judging panel.

MEET THE JUDGES

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are thrilled to introduce the founder of the Veterans Awards CIC: Sean Molino BCA.

Sean is a former British Army Physical Training Instructor who served within the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards. He is the Director of Forces Fitness Ltd, a multi-award-winning organisation and recipient of the prestigious Gold ERS Award, securing multiple national titles including UK National Fitness Award and Wales Business Growth Overall Business of the Year.

Sean is the Founder of Veterans Awards CIC, a not-for-profit organisation established to celebrate the positive contributions of the Veteran and Military community across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, raising over £80,000 for charities.

In addition to co-founding Bridgend Knights Touch Rugby, Sean serves as an Ambassador for Big Ideas Wales and was awarded the British Citizen Award (BCA) at the Palace of Westminster in 2019 for his outstanding contribution to health and wellbeing.

MEET THE JUDGES

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are delighted to introduce another key member of our panel: Rev. Dr Stanley Gamble.

Rev. Dr Gamble is Rector of Killinchy, Kilmood, and Tullynakill. A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, he remains actively involved in higher education, mentoring students within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

In addition to his parish ministry and academic work, he serves as Chairperson of the David Cross Foundation. Working alongside fellow trustees and patron Dr Terry Cross OBE, Rev. Dr Gamble leads efforts to support and fund a range of vital charities and veteran groups across Northern Ireland, with a dedicated focus on peace and reconciliation.

His strong advocacy for the veteran community and deep commitment to local causes make him a valued voice on our 2026 judging panel.

MEET THE JUDGES

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are honoured to introduce a very special member of our panel: Major (Ret’d) Philip Morrison MBE BEM.

Philip served for 34 years in the Home Service during Operation Banner, across both part-time and full-time service, before spending a further 15 years with the MOD Civil Service based at Thiepval Barracks, managing defence infrastructure across Northern Ireland.

He remains deeply involved with several Regimental organisations and is steadfastly committed to supporting and advocating for the Armed Forces community and their families. Having been honoured with both the Role Model of the Year Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards in 2025, Philip now brings his lived experience and dedication to the other side of the table as a judge on this year’s panel.

As judging for the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards 2026 officially gets underway, we are honoured to introduce another distinguished member of our panel: Liz Brown.

Liz is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army and a highly respected leader and advocate within the veteran community in Northern Ireland. She previously served as Head of the Northern Ireland Veterans Support Office (NIVSO), where she played a pivotal role in developing collaborative partnerships between government departments, charities, and local services to support veterans and their families.

Throughout her career, both in uniform and in civilian life, Liz has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to ensuring veterans receive the recognition, care, and opportunities they deserve. Since January 2026, she has served as Secretary of the UDR Benevolent Fund, continuing her dedicated support for the Armed Forces community.

Liz brings a wealth of knowledge, lived experience, and strategic insight to our 2026 judging panel.
