We hope everyone has the 4th of July in their diary for the annual Gravenhurst Gallop summer festival - I know a lot of you get the Grapevine magazine but for those who don't here is the article from the latest edition.

Just a couple of days to go until Gravenhurst Gallop 2025 , and it looks like we might have decent weather 😎🤞(although anything would be an improvement on last year!).

We'll be setting up on the Rec from 10am tomorrow (Friday) for much of the day - if you can spare an hour or two please come along and lend a hand if you can, all help appreciated 💪

Some more timings for this Saturday's Gravenhurst Gallop 2025, especially for the music fans among you!

We're very lucky to be able to welcome several local acts, some from the village, to perform at the Gallop in the afternoon and evening:

14.00 - 15.00: Luke White
19.00 - 20.00: Tasha Wolfe
20.00 - 21.00: Jake Griffiths

Our fully stocked bar will stay open until late and the BBQ will remain fired up too, so come along, have a dance and lend your support to these amazing local musicians 🎶

Just a few days until Gravenhurst Gallop 2025 so we thought we'd share the key timings for the start of the festival to help you plan ahead:

11.30: meet for parade at Rex’s Field (Campton Road, on the left as you head out of the village and just past Town Farm Garage - what3words ///reminder.scouting.regulator). If you have a classic car/vehicle and are interested in participating, please contact Chris Case from Town Farm Garage

12.00: parade sets off through the village (cheer from your doorstep if you’re still at home!) and the Gallop officially opens at the recreation ground, where you can register for the dog show and the Great Gravenhurst Bake-Off

13.00: Blake Stephenson MP will officially open the new playground, while students from the Studio of Performing Arts will show off their dance skills in the main marquee. The races will begin shortly after, culminating in the famous Gallop itself around 15.00 - visit the mini marquee run by Silver Birch Child Care & Forest School to sign up on the day.

Throughout the afternoon and evening there’ll be plenty to do, including live music, kids' entertainment, classic games and other activities, craft stalls, tombola and raffle, and a BBQ and full bar until late.

Bring friends and family along for a fun day with your fellow villagers! 🌞

Just two weeks to go until Gravenhurst Gallop 2025, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that the glorious weather will stick around! 😎

Whether you’re new to the village or have lived here for years, the Gravenhurst Gallop is a must for your summer calendar. This amazing free village festival features a whole host of fun, games and activities for everyone.

Throughout the afternoon and evening there’ll be plenty to do, including:

🌞 Classic vehicle parade and procession through village

🌞 Live music from local musician Luke White and singer Tasha Wolfe

🌞 Dance performance by the Studio of Performing Arts

🌞 Kids’ entertainment (including amazing balloon animals!) from Steve Dimmock

🌞 Official opening of the new playground by Blake Stephenson MP

🌞 Races (including the Gallop itself) and tug o’war

🌞 Great Gravenhurst Bake-Off baking competition judged by Jo from Disco-licious

🌞 Classic games and activities for all ages

🌞 Fun dog show (various categories) and other canine entertainment provided by Accolade Hounds

🌞 Craft stalls, tombola and raffle

🌞 BBQ and full bar until late

And if that’s not enough fun, the entertainment will continue into the evening with more music, food and drink - it’s a great opportunity to relax, socialise and maybe even have a bit of a boogie with other villagers. Bring friends and family too, there'll be plenty to do!

Calling all star bakers! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

We’re bringing back the Great Gravenhurst Bake-Off at Gravenhurst Gallop 2025 , with new categories and age groups so that even more of the family can get involved. Get those spatulas ready and whip up your entry for the following categories:

🍪 Biscuits (can be sweet or savoury, iced or not - a great opportunity to get creative)

🍰 Victoria sponge (can be interpreted however you’d like)

🎂 Showstoppers (again, open to interpretation - we’ll be looking for a stunning combination of taste and decoration, but what you bake is up to you!)

We’ll accept entries into all three categories in three different age groups:

8 years old and under

9 to 16 years old

16 and over (adults)

We’re delighted to welcome back local food hero Jo Redman from Disco-licious as our guest judge.

Entry costs £2 per entry, per category - you can have multiple entries in multiple categories. Bakes should be delivered to the main tent at the Gallop between 12:00 and 14:00 on Saturday 5th July, where you’ll be asked to complete an entry form that includes your recipe/list of ingredients – judging will take place around 16:00, after which time you can collect your entries and take them home. Young bakers can have help from an adult and should be supervised. Judge’s decision is final.

🚨 Reminder: Gravenhurst Gallop AGM this Thursday 🚨

Our AGM will be taking place at the village hall this Thursday 24th October from 8pm. We'll be looking back at Gravenhurst Gallop 2024 and considering options for future events.

We really do need more volunteers to lend a hand with planning and organisation. If you'd like to get involved and help ensure the future of the Gallop, please come along.
