We were delighted that Redford student, Lucy Backhurst, was invited to read at the Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenant’s Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Church over the weekend.

The service celebrated the amazing contribution made by the volunteers, charity workers and community leaders working across the county and Lucy was proud to be involved.

Well done, Lucy!

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

Teaching the subjects that we do and seeing you through not just one year of your training but through hopefully many years as you grow up, we have the privilege of seeing you in vulnerable moments - we laugh with you and cry with you, we celebrate your wins, comfort you when things aren't going to plan, and get to know when you're feeling good or having a dark day.

The amazing thing about drama and music is the fact that these subjects allow you to work through your feelings, to express them and make sense of them in a creative context. They also allow you to escape into another character and another world for a time, to leave your troubles behind for a short while and have fun or be challenged.

We never underestimate how important drama and music are to young people, and we work hard to ensure Redfords can be a safe space where you can be who you are, and feel however you feel and you'll be supported.

We'll always be here to lift you up. However you're feeling this mental health awareness week, we're with you and we've got your back x

While much of our work at Redford School is focused on the stage, there's a whole host of exciting and challenging creative roles that contribute to the performing arts that take place off stage and behind the scenes.

This fascinating video shows the process of taking The Royal Opera's performance of the Magic Flute from the stage to the screen. How do you share a live performance with a remote audience? How do you ensure the story is told in the most exciting and engaging way for cinema-goers without compromising on the quality of the experience?

This is well worth a 7 minute watch, not least because among the many talented and brilliant people working on the project, one is our very own Alice Marner who was the official script supervisor for the screening! 🤩
