Battle Festival was re-launched in 2014 after several years in hiatus. Its first year back drew visitors from throughout the UK, western Europe and the US and received immense public acclaim. Patrons are Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane, conductor Sir Andrew Davies and a soon to be announced British actor of RSC and Hollywood distinction. Watch this space for news of this year's events.

Learn about Battle with The West End of the Town – History Walk on Sun 12, Sun 19 & Sun 26 July.

Join buildings archaeologist Stephen Gray in a walk from Caldbec Hill, said to be the site of the Saxon army’s muster in 1066, to the historic buildings of Mount Street, and trace the outline of Battle’s medieval Market Square.

Early booking is recommended. Last year's walks sold out very quickly.

World-famous cellist Raphael Wallfisch joins the Primrose Quartet – Susanne Stanzeleit. Tom Aldren, Dorothea Vogel and Andrew Fuller – for a wonderful afternoon of chamber music favourites.
Schubert’s glorious String Quintet in C major will be preceded by Haydn’s “Sunrise” and a few other gems for string quartet.

Piano Recital in Battle Abbey: Gabriele Sutkutė

Winner of over 20 piano competitions – most recently the Royal Overseas League – Gabrielė Sutkutė has established herself as one of the most exciting young piano soloists of her generation and has performed in many of the major concert halls in the UK and abroad.

She will present a beautiful programme including works by Beethoven, Brahms, Franck, Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque and Ravel’s La Valse.

A must for any music lover!
