Battle Festival: committed to staging world-class events, with
performances by internationally renowned musicians, visual arts, & fringe events.

Battle Festival was re-launched in 2014 after several years in hiatus. Its first year back drew visitors from throughout the UK, western Europe and the US and received immense public acclaim. Patrons are Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane, conductor Sir Andrew Davies and a soon to be announced British actor of RSC and Hollywood distinction. Watch this space for news of this year's events.

Then it’s time to test your knowledge in our Rocky Horror quiz, with a fantastic prize up for grabs, before we settle in for the film itself — the legendary, lipsticked, fishnetted musical phenomenon that still knows exactly how to bring an audience to life.

Found floating in the village pond, Edwina’s death has left a very suspicious collection of characters in her wake:

⛪ A daft Reverend who was supposed to bury her
👀 Nuns lurking around the graveyard
⚰️ A reclusive funeral director
🍷 A fisherman who vanished after delivering w**e to the church

Throughout the evening, the suspects will perform among you, while **every table becomes a detective team**.

Follow the clues. Question the suspects. Spot the red herrings. Compare notes. And, ultimately, decide…

A GRAVE MISTAKE: MURDER MYSTERY SUPPER RETURNS TO BATTLE!

Following a successful appearance at Battle Festival in July, the Morlington Murders return to Battle with a brand-new case on Friday 16 October.

Edwina Gruntfuttock is dead—and the Reverend Olting has some explaining to do.

Edwina has been found floating in the village pond. Suspicion falls upon the daft Reverend who was supposed to bury her, the nuns seen lurking in the graveyard, a reclusive funeral director and the fisherman who disappeared after delivering a case of w**e to the church.

During the evening, the suspects will perform among the audience as each table becomes a detective team. Guests must follow the clues, question the characters and negotiate a liberal scattering of red herrings before deciding who committed the murder.

A bottle of bubbly awaits the winning team, along with the satisfaction of having restored some semblance of order to the village.

The evening might best be described as Agatha Christie meeting Carry On—over supper.

Thank you Keane, thank you BBC Sussex

An East Sussex arts festival says it is "delighted" to have received a donation from rock band Keane, which it says will help to support performers in the area.

Battle Festival said on social media that it had received a donation from the band, who started their careers in the town.

David Furness, chair of the Battle Festival trustees, said the funding will help develop talent which is "paying back and paving the way for new artists".

He added: "Keane are great friends of the festival, so this is wonderful news."

Furness said: "They have played at the festival at least twice over the years, but this year they weren't around so they have very kindly made a generous donation.

"It's lovely to know they haven't forgotten their formative years. This will help us to mentor and develop new talent."

Famous for their hits Somewhere Only We Know and Everybody's Changing, Keane formed in 1995.

The band has had four UK top 10 singles, and five UK number one albums, according to the Official Charts.

Growing up in Battle, the band's fifth album Strangeland charts their youth in the East Sussex town, including the single Sovereign Lights Cafe, named after an establishment in Bexhill.

Keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley is also a patron of the festival, which the band played a show for at Battle Abbey in 2018.

Battle Festival are delighted to receive a wonderful and generous donation from the band, Keane.

Keane have a long lasting and deep relationship with Battle and the 1066 Country and this has been reflected in their music, which references their formative years here.

The donation will enable the Festival to continue over the years to develop and mentor talent in and around Battle and be a firm fixture in South East England’s cultural calendar.

We wish Keane well in their future musical ventures.
