So that’s the end credits have finished on the West Lothian Business Week!

It was a joy to join everyone today who came to network this morning at the It was amazing to be in the company of several local businesses to learn what success means to them and if they had any business wins this week.

The amazing guest speaker Lindsay Girvan, owner of the Linlithgow-based knitwear brand offered a candid timelined story of her business; what inspired it, what keeps it going and what the future looks like.

What an amazing way to conclude a very special week 👏🏻

Exciting things are happening behind the scenes at the West Lothian Film Festival 🎬

We’re delighted to confirm that our upcoming programme of screening events and festival activity will be announced very soon.

At present, we are working closely with our contacts at West Lothian Council to finalise venue dates and terms for the following planned events:

📍 Blackburn Partnership Centre — in aid of Breast Friends and Family — July
📍 Bathgate Partnership Centre — in aid of Bathgate Community Council — August
📍 Armadale Partnership Centre — in aid of Breast Friends and Family — August
📍 Torphichen Community Hall — Special Screening Event — September
📍 Bathgate Partnership Centre — Two-Day Festival & Black Tie Awards Ceremony 🤵🏻‍♂️👗

We are also in discussions to secure regular screening dates with the West Lothian 50 Plus Network with these events planned to be exclusive to its members and those with pending membership enquiries.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we navigate a few challenges behind the scenes. Unfortunately, we have experienced some long-term sickness 🤒 within key members of the team, while the transition of community buildings back into West Lothian Council management has also required additional coordination to secure dates and agreements.

That said, we are incredibly excited about what’s ahead.

As soon as everything is officially confirmed, we’ll be announcing:
🎟️ Event dates
🎟️ Ticketing launches
🎬 Film line-ups
🏆 Festival & awards details

Thank you for continuing to support independent film, local storytelling, and independent film across West Lothian. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon.

Tomorrow is election day.

As of December 2025, over 150,000 people in West Lothian are registered to vote. With an estimated voting-age population of around 155,000–160,000, that’s something genuinely worth recognising, the vast majority of our community has already taken the first step.

But registration is only the opening scene.

The real moment of catharsis’ comes when we show up.

At the West Lothian Film Festival, we believe in the power of stories, and elections are one of the most important ways a community shapes its own. Every vote is a voice. Every turnout figure tells a story about who we are and what we care about.

This isn’t about telling you who to vote for. It’s about encouraging you to take part.

🎥 Let’s set a new standard for turnout in West Lothian.
🎟️ You’ve got your ticket, now take your seat.

🗳️ Polls are open 7am–10pm and you don't need your ID. Just turn up and mark your ballot papers with an X next to your preferred party or candidate.

Be part of the story.

We have received a suggestion of having the main festival screenings and award ceremony at Ghillie Dhu. We love the idea, especially after hearing the feedback from our last Special Screening Event. This venue is historical, prestigious and has a ton of options for commuting.

Drop us a like and a comment if you would attend the screening day (or two) and the black tie screening event here.

🎬 SUBMISSIONS UPDATE

The final submission we were waiting for has now arrived, which means we are able to confirm our next steps.

The End Credits deadline officially closed on 31 December. Everything happening now, between then and 31 January, is an unplanned extension to allow a small number of filmmakers who were already in conversation with us to complete their submissions.

That said, we are happy to leave submissions open until 31 January for anyone who still wishes to enter.

There is just one condition.

All films submitted during this extension period must use one of the previously shared discount codes, as these also act as deadline waiver codes.
Full price submissions are no longer possible, because the End Credits deadline has passed.

If you have a film ready and a code saved, this is your window.

📍 Submit here:
www.filmfreeway.com/westlothianff

For potential sponsors and partners, there are still excellent opportunities to get involved through Category Sponsorship and Event Sponsorship. Supporting a specific award or a dedicated event is a powerful way to align your brand with filmmakers, audiences and the creative community. Drop us an email [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who has supported the festival so far, and to those about to click submit, this is your final chance to be part of this year’s programme.
