All the pennies are counted!

Every year the proceeds of our little fell race are split between Baslow St Anne's CofE Primary School, Baslow St Anne's Church buildings restoration fund and a charity chosen by the school - which this year is Shelter, the national campaign for homeless people.

They will each be receiving just over £1,700 as our total amount raised this year was a glorious £5,130.69. Not bad for a couple of hours run in the mud!

Many, many thank yous are in order…

Firstly, MASSIVE THANKS go to James Turnbull and all the team at Outside in Hathersage for their continued support. And of course to Rab. We are very honoured and humbled to be part of their Winter Race Series.

The race would not happen without the huge and loyal team of race organisers, enthusiastic marshals, prize donors, café volunteers and bakers, local businesses, community members and groups who all came together to make the day run smoothly. You know who you are ✨✨

Thank you to you all, to name a few: Peak Ales Ltd, Chatsworth House, Fitism, Baslow Physiotherapy, Bakewell Physiotherapy Group and Becky Lyne at TrYumph in Life, plus voom nutrition. The Baslow Bell Ringers, The Bakewell Bakery, Whittington Moor Printing Works, Baslow St Anne’s Church, Baslow St Anne's School PTA, Curbar Primary PTA, Peak District Scouts, Edensor Tea Cottage.

Last but certainly not least THANK YOU to all the RUNNERS 🏃🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️who took part in this year’s race (two whole weeks ago now, can you believe!). We would not have raised these incredible amounts without your participation and generosity.

Here’s to next year!

The sixth Baslow Bolt off to a pretty soggy - but enthusiastic - start 🏃🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

28/11/2025

Come rain or shine - but most probably 🌧️- we’re ready for you Bolters ⚡️⚡️

The team have been out today marking and signposting the route and Registration is all sorted.

Tomorrow there will be marshals galore, encouraging you at every turn.

There’s a chance there will see some highland cattle on Baslow Edge, which will be a treat - but please give them a wide berth. Marshals will give a warning if there are cattle about.

In terms of conditions, the course is definitely soft. The forecast is for heavy rain overnight and rain during the race so conditions are expected to get very wet and muddy - your grippiest shoes are a must! You’ll certainly deserve your tea and cake at the finish ⚡️☕️🍰

We can’t wait to see you in the morning and wish you all a fantastic race🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽🏃‍♂️

A message from the Race Directors:

“Thank you for taking part in the sixth annual running of our little fell race!

It’s a friendly village charity event run by volunteers with no cut off times to make it as accessible as possible. It’s as much about the last person as the race winner and we want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves!

The mixed weather of the last couple of weeks has left the course quite soggy and muddy. Come prepared for wet, slippery conditions and dress accordingly for a winter fell race.

Plenty of home-made cakes and hot drinks await you at the end! Many thanks and see you on Saturday.”

The forecast for Saturday is cloud and rain, with temps of about 6 degrees. It’s going to be wet and muddy and definitely claggy and slippery in places.

Please dress appropriately for a November fell race. This includes wearing your grippiest fell/trail/off-road shoes - ie no road running shoes!

Runners still have to have the full winter kit
prepped and ready just in case a sudden blizzard blows in between now and Saturday - it has happened before!

However, this will not be mandated unless the weather conditions are very severe.

FYI the full winter kit includes:
🔹Waterproof body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood) 🔹Hat 🔹Gloves 🔹Map 🔹Compass 🔹Whistle 🔹Emergency food

The race organisers reserve the right to refuse to let anyone run who does not have suitable kit. See our website for all relevant FRA rules & guidance www.baslowbolt.com (practical advice & FRA rules & kit sections).

Also, please bring something to keep you warm and dry pre- and post race.

Keep an eye on the Facebook or Instagram pages for any further updates right up to the race.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
