We would like to thank everyone that volunteered to help out at our first Memories in Motion event at the Basingstoke Festival of Transport hosted by the Basingstoke and Deane Rotary Club.

Here are a few highlights from yesterday's event as well as a photo of our fantastic team of volunteers who made this event possible.

Our next event is Monday 25th May at Barton's Mill for the Basingstoke Loddon Rotary Club's Duck Race. We can't wait to see you there!

We are at Festival of Transport Basingstoke all day today!

For those who were unable to make our curry evening tonight, the announcement was as follows…

Cars and Curry Basingstoke was set up in Jan 2022 to bring like-minded people together in this area on a monthly basis. This was to raise funds to support families, as well as flying the Teddy Bear Run flag, however there were also occasions where Cars & Curry Basingstoke supported local families independently.

Due to the rapid growth of what we have all achieved in this area, it put Westley under an immense amount of pressure at his end, due to the volume of local events and visits we have been doing. With Wesley’s blessing, we are now breaking away and changing the name of Cars & Curry Basingstoke to Memories in Motion.

This will be led by Steve & Teri and our monthly curry meets will continue to be hosted by Jane. The current committee will still stand and continue to make decisions on how the money we raise is spent locally.

We will do everything we have been doing, just under a new name, with a new logo and will continue being a fundraiser for our local area.

Our next local event is just days away, which is Festival of Transport in Basingstoke, we need new promotional materials and our own Public Liability Insurance for this event and for all future events.

We faced a huge challenge on how to fund the re-branding without touching the monies we have already raised for our local families.
We therefore approached some local businesses to see if they could be a sponsor.

We want to say a big thank you to:

Dean Grimes @ DG Construction
Jon Palin & Steve Smith @ Elmdale IT Services
Matt Ripton @ Ripton Windows
Calum @ Symbiosis

They have covered all the costs of re-branding and the wheels are in motion to obtain the new promotional materials (flags, banners, car stickers and flyers) in time for this weekend’s event.

Our current page is now changing to Memories in Motion.

We will also have a new Instagram account and a new WhatsApp community group in due course.

We are in the process of building a new website, which will take time, but once up and running, it will be regularly updated.

These online platforms will inform you about future and past local events.

We already have our established connections with Basingstoke & Wi******er Hospitals, Firvale, Sebastians, Spotlight and more recently Goodwood Motor Circuit. We are also in talks with Thruxton Circuit for future events.

With your help, we will continue to search for other local families or individuals who may need our support in the future.

This will be a positive change.
We will have full control over what we do, where and who we support, under our new name of Memories in Motion.

Without your continued support in attending our monthly curry meets to raise the vital funds needed, as well as bringing your vehicles along to special family visits and our local events.

We wouldn’t be able to continue our mission without you.

I would just like to re-confirm we have the full blessing of Westley with these changes. Teddy Bear Run will continue doing what they do and led by Westley, so please do support him separately with his events where you can.

Please carry on being the amazing people you are, as each and every one of you makes a difference!

Last weekend we had the privilege of surprising Josh 19, Ethan 16, Mia 12 and Mum.
Cars & Curry Basingstoke recently supported Sebastian’s in North Waltham with our donation of eggs for their Easter party. Laura contacted us to see if we could help with a different request. They are looking after a local family where both boys have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Josh is car mad and wished he could go to Festival of Speed at Goodwood 🏎️ whilst he is still able, however all the tickets had sold out. Could we help?
Steve contacted Goodwood, who were amazing and we managed to obtain complimentary tickets to this years members meeting as the Festival of Speed event would be too busy and Goodwood advised this event would suit the family better.
Teri liaised with the family before the event and then met them and their carer at the circuit gates and looked after them all day, ensuring all their expenses were covered, even including ice creams! This was thanks to the fundraising by Cars & Curry Basingstoke.
This really was a day to remember for them, especially with Josh meeting Top Gear presenter Chris Harris and we have received some lovely feedback from the family.
It was our pleasure to be able to fulfill another local family’s wish! ❤️
