💙 Self-care for carers

Unpaid carers do so much every day, often putting their own well-being last.
But looking after yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

As part of Carers’ Week 2026, join us on Thursday 11th June for a Self-care and Community Support day:

All of these groups are 10am - 12pm at BHF Priory Centre, Pontefract Road, Lundwood, Barnsley, S71 5PN. 📍

Carers play a vital role in supporting people's health and wellbeing, and it's vital they prioritise their own health and wellbeing.

As part of Carers’ Week 2026, on Tuesday 9th June, self-care and drop-in sessions are planned for Tuesday 9th June with BIADS, Beacon South Yorkshire and Barnsley Carers Service to support you.

You don’t have to be a parent or relative to be a carer. If you support a friend, neighbour or loved one who couldn’t manage without you, you are a carer 💙

If this sounds like you, please let a member of staff know when you’re visiting a hospital, GP practice, care provider or social care service, as help and support is available.

Barnsley is working towards Building Carer-Friendly Communities and have arranged a number of events to support carers.

As part of Carers’ Week 2026, every day there will be Care Co-ordinators available to support in GP practices.

You can also join us on Monday 8th June at Barnsley Metrodome (10am–6pm) for the SEND Local Offer Live event. (Tel: 0800 0345340 opt 5)

It’s a great opportunity to find out what support is available, speak to local services, and get advice in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Charity Fundraiser Psychic Night with Grant Harris Medium - in aid of "Dans Helping Hand" 🔮✨

In memory of Dan, the charity "Dan's Helping Hand" was set up to help towards funeral costs of young adults that have passed to cancer between the age of 16-24. No-one expects something like this and the financial burden can be extremely difficult when insurances are not taken out on young ages, and funding is limited.
