Celebrating Our Achievements and Looking to the Future!

Dear Community,

We are proud to announce that Friends of Mapplewell and Staincross (FOMAS) has successfully organized three beer festivals in our community, which were greatly enjoyed by all who attended. These events allowed us to raise funds to purchase Christmas lights for the village, which added a touch of warmth and joy during the holiday season. We are grateful for the overwhelming support

we have received from the community, which enabled us to make a real difference. We want to thank everyone who helped us along the way, from volunteers who helped set up the events, to local businesses who generously donated to our cause. Without your support, none of this would have been possible. FOMAS is a community group that believes in bringing people together to create positive change. Our aim is to support worthwhile causes and make a difference in the lives of those around us. As we move forward, we are looking for new and exciting opportunities to continue our mission and make a real impact in our community. We encourage you to get involved and become a part of our growing network of supporters. Whether it's by attending our events, volunteering your time, or donating to our cause, every little bit helps. Together, we can make a difference! To all our budding gardeners, why not go along and support Anthony and the team The view cafe Hill End Road, Mapplewell, Barnsley, S75 6DX. They will be holding their annual bring and buy plant sale on 23rd and 24th May with all proceeds going to BIADS. If you can’t make the charity event, then you could help us by bringing in a plant for the stall. You can drop your plants off at our BIADS centre just off Dodworth Road week commencing 18th May and we will take them to the event. Thank you in advance for all your help and support.

Thank you once again to Anthony Barron and all at The View Café for choosing BIADS has their charity, we are so grateful for your continued dedication and support.

Back again for 2026, another great event in the village 🐰🐥😊

We are super excited to let you know that we are once again running our Mapplewell Village Easter Trail 🐣

Trail sheets will be available for collection from Saturday 28 March from our lovely friends at Mapplewell Library. Return your completed trail sheets back to the library to claim your free treat! The trail sheet also doubles up as an egg design competition entry - complete this and you could be in with a chance of winning one of 3 prizes 🤩

The Easter trail will be running throughout the school Easter holidays and encourages you to take in some of the great green spaces and local businesses Mapplewell has to offer. Pick up a trail sheet from the library between Saturday 28 March and Saturday 11 April. Please note that the library's normal opening times apply.

📣Our 2026 Beer Festival is moving locations 🥳

This year's event will be at St John's Parish Hall on Greenside.

Our new venue has a great outdoor space that we will make the most out of over the weekend. 😎🤞🏼

Moving the date to Friday 11th - Sunday 13th September we hope the weather's kinder to us and we can welcome 🐾outside for the first time.

We are busy lining up entertainment, food trucks and a great selection of beers, ciders, spirits etc 😉

This year’s Children’s Easter Party is set to be bigger, brighter, and hoppier than ever! 💛🐣

Tom will be returning to judge the Best Girls’ and Best Boys’ Easter Bonnet, he had a tough job last year, so let’s make it even tougher this time!

The FoMaS AGM will be held on Tuesday 24th February at 7pm at Mapplewell Village Hall. Anyone interest in being more involved during the next 12 months is more than welcome to attend. Santa has kindly agreed to switch on the lights of our fabulous community tree. That has been supplied to us by the ladies and gents from FoMas MMapplewell Beer Festival

The light switch on will be at 4pm to close the Christmas Fayre.
