Let’s Get Behind This Incredible Local Effort! ❤️

This Sunday morning, a team of veterans and supporters will be taking on an amazing challenge - pulling a 9-ton truck from the Town Hall Cenotaph to the Dodworth Cenotaph (around 2.2 miles) to raise money for Help 4 Homeless Veterans and the Royal British Legion.

They’ll be setting off at 9am, and it’d be brilliant to see people lining the streets, cheering them on, and showing that proper Barnsley spirit ❤️

Let’s see if we can get the route looking as full as the town is for Barnsley Live - let’s give them the support they deserve! 🙌

After a chance meeting with one of the organisers Eyup & Down offered to help promote this wonderful event happening this Sunday.

All money raised goes to
Help 4 Homeless Veterans & Royal British Legion

A group of veterans and civilians will pull a 9 ton truck the 2.2 miles from the Town Hall Cenotaph to the Dodworth Cenotaph starting at 9am.

It would be wonderful for us Barnsley fans to get right behind this, line the route and cheer them on.

🎉 It’s Hicksy’s birthday today!! 🎉

Hicksy has been part of the BL fam for as long as we can remember. From stage managing, to stepping up and being the absolute superstar he was these past couple of years helping us with our socials posts on the day of the fest – keeping everyone informed and in the loop throughout the whole festival! No matter what he's doing on the day he does a smashing job and makes it all look effortless.

Hicksy, you’re a legend. We hope your day is as brilliant as you are!

Simon has been one of our incredible Stage Managers for so many years we've lost count, and we’re so lucky to have him on the team!

His sense of humour, dedication, and ability to make us all laugh when we're stressed makes working with him such a pleasure. We hope you have an amazing day!!

🎉 It’s Scarfe’s birthday today! 🎉

As many of you know, he’s one of our organisers – and truth be told, Barnsley Live simply wouldn’t exist without Scarfe and his company One Over The Eight. The sheer graft, passion, and dedication he’s poured into the Barnsley music scene over the years is nothing short of incredible.

Here’s a bit of how he sums up the role hes played at Barnsley Live (in true Scarfe style):

👉 “I am the helmet. I spend most of my days, dependant on time of year, dealing with the following questions/remarks:

(Jan – March) – ‘Preparations for Barnsley Live going well?’
(April – June) – *mostly just an inner-monologue of screaming*
(July – December) – ‘Tell you what Barnsley Live should do…’

I also do some of the band scheduling and then changing it because people aren’t happy with their spot.”

We’re very lucky to have him, so join us in wishing the legend himself a massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCARFE! 🧡

Thank You Barnsley, it’s time for a change 💔

Since 2018, Barnsley Live has been a huge part of our lives as organisers - and together, with you, it became something far bigger than we ever imagined: a celebration of music, community, and the incredible talent that fills this town and beyond.

After an incredible run, we’ve made the tough decision to bring Barnsley Live, in its current one-day festival form, to a close.

This is not the end of Barnsley Live. We are deeply rooted in the local music scene, and will continue to put on events that champion our amazing artists and venues - just in a more sustainable way.

For now though, we want to say some heartfelt thank-yous:
🎸 To every musician who has ever performed - you’ve been incredible.
🏛️ To every venue who’s opened their doors and believed in us - thank you.
🏢 To Barnsley Council, for their continued support and guidance.
🙌 To the thousands of people who’ve turned up year after year to celebrate live music.
💛 And most of all, to our volunteers - your time, energy, and dedication made this festival possible.

Barnsley Live was never just a festival. It’s been a family, a showcase of what this town can do when people come together and we’re so proud of what we’ve created with you.

📢 Membership sign ups for Base71 are now OPEN! 📢

🎉 Signing up as a member of Base71 will give young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with additional needs) access to over 20 different activities including an indoor climbing wall, boxing room and fully equipped gym, dance and drama studio, music room with recording studio, and much more, when the Youth Zone opens in early 2026!

🥰 Membership is just £5 annually, plus 50p per session. And if you live in a Barnsley postcode and are under 18, the annual membership fee is absolutely FREE thanks to Barnsley Council.
