As always the Deeside 100 is done for Friends of Anchor. This year we have this amazing person Jemma Mcrae my cousin to inspire us. She is fighting the disease just now and finds strength in her poems that she posts of Facebook. This is her latest.
The cancer is growing so please crack on
Let’s zap the ‘bugger’ & kill it & let it be gone
Radiotherapy time for me all next week
Just trying not to think about the mask they’ve made for ‘my beak’
My whole head yuk & face fully covered
Then it’s attached to the bed but hopefully only 10 mins out of the cupboard
Always knew this was ahead but always tried to not think
Live love laugh & try not to blink
Almost 3 years I’ve lived with secondary breast cancer
Deep down I’m so proud of how far I’ve come & been able to still be a dancer
My dads escorting me down & staying the first half of the week
Then my little bro’ s taking over & helping me for the rest of the week
His wedding anniversary with my beautiful sister in law he’ll be in London with me
I’m SO grateful & thankful to my loving family
Bro & SIIL (Ailsa) you are SO special & my adorable nephew Ellis too
Even when Ellis has a dirty nappy full of poo
My sister, her partner & my wonderful nephew Noah
Their family down in London stack the fridge for Papa chocolate & Coca Cola
Nothing’s a problem for any of them
Sharing there house, moving rooms their genes from ‘gaga’ they sure stem
So daddy’s fully in charge this week 4 nights 5 days
& Nana’s staying home for a little break she’ll help keep the forte running as always
Her duties at Academy Street Dance studio she loves to do
More tap & modern exams Wednesday & Thursday there will be a Starbucks at 7am or two
So Team Ac St - Gillian, Jo, Nana & my senior girls
Along with my pupils all fabulous bouncy twirls
Another poem another post but I know you wont mind
Makes life easier for me & and then more strength I find
As 1 door closes another one opens
Praying this one stays open & open & open
To see my precious little girl grow up
I promise promise I’ll never give up
Ballet exams this weekend so happy to be here to see my students in
They’ve worked so hard all year round with me hope they’ll smile & keep up their chin
We need to kill it put it into remission just put it to sleep
So i can keep living my life, leap & not weep
& my daughter aged 8 can continue to have
The life she’s been brought up into with her mum & Dad
From day 1 it’s been mummy & me full time
But delighted that daddy has continued to climb
Daddy adores her & she adores him
Delighted he stuck by us just need him to put alcohol in the bin
Hair’s was all braided & I’ve had the chop
Hope my hairdressers on standby by with his mop
No tears yesterday but an emotional hurdle
But I’ve done it before & I’ll get over this curdle
So far just short of £700 raised this week for FRIENDS OF ANCHOR
All ready to be helped by their amazing services and all the people they care for
A truly dedicated team led by one of Aberdeen’s most generous & finest
& my special man Dr Hutcheon, he’s just the best
My care full time to Dr McGoldrick I’m happy about that
Him & his team I’m sure will help bring my confidence back
Since I met him last year he has always been
Truly supportive, caring & happy to be involved in my Marsden team
Without trust you have nothing without love you have less
I’m surrounded by it & thankful & grateful & I bless
Some people we’ve lost we’ve lost suddenly & I always said ‘I wouldn’t want to know’
But been able to keep making memories is a blessing I know
Hope to be able to keep make memories, keep positive, keep active & well
For as long as I can even if I’m going through hell
A inner strength that appears is an amazing strength
Let’s hope this strength continues & it’s a real long length!!
