Thank you to everyone who has donated so far to Paul’s chosen charity Cumbria Family Support 👇https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/PaulsDeloitteChallenge2022
Here’s a bit more information about the charity and how your donations will help support the work they do with families in Cumbria.
Cumbria Family Support have been supporting families in Cumbria since 1993. Their aim is to relieve family difficulties and offer support, to reduce isolation and health inequalities and to empower children and their parents to be the best that they can be. They provide a unique flexible approach to supporting families, ensuring positive changes are embedded into family life and help to eradicate issues entrenched through generations.
Operating in Carlisle, Eden and Allerdale, below are some of the types of services Cumbria Family Support offers:
- a listening ear/befriending support
- practical support (decluttering/tip runs/ help with shopping etc.).
- general advice and support, helping to access other specialist services
- a “family organiser” role, helping to make sure families can navigate and access a range of other, specialist services
- parenting support through general advice, role modelling, and use of evidence-based parenting programmes.
- emotional wellbeing and healthy living courses
- access to three Supported Contact Centres (Carlisle, Eden, and Kendal) providing a safe setting for children to have supported contact and have a relationship with an absent parent or grandparent.
In 2021-2022 Cumbria Family Support supported over 600 children, young people and parents in over 150 families through their family support service and also ran Contact Centre Sessions fortnightly in each of their 3 centres overall supporting 18 families across the year to maintain contact between non-resident parent and children.
