GIG CANCELLED
Very sorry to say this gig has had to be cancelled due to injury. From Laura:

I’m really sorry and devastated to have to say that I’ve suffered a playing injury in my left hand. Which makes my fingers unable to move with the finer motor dexterity that I work hard on (and depended upon) to deliver my shows.

(For all you anatomy nerds: the ulnar nerve and median nerve are damaged, making it hard for me to play properly.)

Despite a huge committed effort to ‘get through’ the physical challenges and play these shows, after rehearsing with Ian, consulting with my physiotherapist and GP, it’s become clear that it is not going to be possible to deliver these performances as planned.

Forging the sound of the New Tradition, Dàimh are West Highland Music’s proudest exponents.

Dàimh, the Gaelic word for Connection, perfectly describes the electrifying musical interplay between the individual band members and portrays the interaction with audiences attending their breath-taking live shows around the world. It also translates as the connection to the deep musical well from which they draw their inspiration.

On the Scottish music scene the name Dàimh has come to represent a sound of a time and place a musical integrity that many strive to emulate. Formed over 20 years ago the band have embodied the current wave of resurgence in Gaelic culture; the current line up includes younger musicians that have progressed through the thriving Fèisean movement and Gaelic medium education system and joined the 3 remaining founding members to continue the cycle of the tradition.

Recent achievements include receiving the MG ALBA Folk Band of the Year Award in 2015 and 2018 and passing the halfway mark on their career ambition of performing on every populated Scottish Island.

Church Street Shuffle are a contemporary Scottish folk duo energy from the heart of the Highlands: fiddle + guitar, with the addition of funky modern looping, bass pedals, and a lush live sound that feels way bigger than two people. Special for Arisaig: Neil is joined by local legend Lachie Robinson (multi-instrumentalist from Knoydart, and in band Ape House) - with his driving rhythms, session-bred style, and adventurous musicianship.

Neil Ewart
With the release of his debut album, Neil Ewart steps confidently into the spotlight as a virtuoso of traditional Scottish music. His bold, inventive compositions are deeply rooted in the rich heritage of Scotland’s west coast, while still feeling fresh and forward-looking. Like the pipers of centuries past who improvised variations on Gaelic airs, Neil honours tradition by reshaping it — weaving in contemporary harmonic ideas and rhythmic complexity without losing the heart of the music.

Much of this sound was forged in the lively bars and venues of Inverness, where Neil connected with fellow musicians who shared his drive to push the form. Together, they build a dynamic blend of multilayered fiddle loops and chops, intricate guitar lines, pulsing bass, and beats - modern in texture, but grounded in the timeless character of Scottish music.

At the core of it all is Neil’s passion for arrangement and atmosphere: creating immersive, shifting soundscapes through innovative looping techniques, and bringing tradition to life in a way that feels immediate, exciting, and still his own.

Lachie Robinson
Lachie Robinson is a multi-instrumentalist folk musician from the Knoydart peninsula. His adventurous style and driving rhythms were born through the many sessions, ceilidhs, and fèisean of Lochaber, and refined at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied guitar. A keen environmentalist, Lachie returned home from Glasgow during the pandemic to an off-grid yurt, in which he stayed for five years, living close to nature and connecting with his family heritage. Still mainly based on Knoydart, he is now setting his sights once more on a bright future in music: an aspiration he strengthened by releasing an album with his band (Ape House) in 2024, and successfully reaching the semi final of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition this year.

Help Keep Fèis na Mara Wild, Warm & Wonderfully Grassroots... Fèis na Mara 2025 landed right in the eye of Storm Amy – and somehow, you lot still turned it into a weekend we’ll never forget.

Amy bulldozed her way into Arisaig, soaked our socks, rattled the windows of Astley Hall and made everything extra “character building”. And yet… you danced, you laughed, you sang your hearts out, and if you couldn’t make it, you were kind enough to accept that some things really are beyond anyone’s control. You are an absolutely mighty crowd of folk.

WHY WE'RE HERE

For the last 8 years, Fèis na Mara has been completely self-sustaining – no big corporate backers or sponsors, no bull💩 fancy VIP sections, just a wee volunteer committee, lots of glitter, a shoestring budget and the best tribe of festival-goers we could ask for.

But the reality is, in the current economy, it’s getting harder and harder to keep a small, independent festival afloat. Costs are rising across the board, and Storm Amy gave our finances a proper battering.

We still want to stay what we are: A grassroots, community festival on the West Coast - not one of those sell-out festivals where you’re paying £6 for a warm can of Tennent’s (we’ve managed to avoid that fate so far – and we’d really like to keep it that way… and no pointing fingers to other festival, obviously).

To do that, we need a wee bit of help to get back on our feet for next year.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Instead of hiking bar prices or turning into something we’re not, we’re doing this the Fèis na Mara way: Funky, limited-edition merch + optional donations!

On this crowdfunder you can:
- Grab some exclusive merch (designs from past years poster designs)
- Or simply make a one-off donation if you’re not a merch person but still want to support

Every penny goes straight back into:
- Covering the shortfall from this year
- Paying for the venue, kit hire and artists for next year
- Keeping Fèis na Mara independent, affordable and full of craic

ABOUT THE MERCH (Made Locally, Just for You)

All merch is pressed to order in-house by Mhairi at www.nooc.art – proper small-batch, small-business magic. Want something specific?
- A certain colour of t-shirt?
- A particular size (or fit)?
- A poster print of your favourite design or festy poster?
- A different combo of artwork and wording?

Just get in touch and we’ll do our best to make it happen (additional fees may be added for customisations - in the name of charity). But because these are made to order, we can be flexible and playful with what we create.

Thank You, Tribe 💚

Fèis na Mara has only survived – and thrived – for 8 years WITHOUT EXTERNAL FUNDING (and almost 28 years all in!) because of YOU: the folks who travel through wind, rain and hurricanes to show up, year after year.

If you’re able to grab some merch or chip in a few quid, it genuinely helps us keep this wild, warm, slightly chaotic wee festival going – without selling our souls or charging you daft money for your pint.

Here’s to calmer weather, louder tunes and seeing you back in Arisaig next year. 🌊🎶
