The much-loved Annan Harbour Festival returns this Saturday and will honour the memory of Captain Roy Kerr, one of Dumfries & Galloway’s best-loved characters, with its 'Pirates & Mermaids' theme and grand parade..
Captain Roy’s tall ship La Malouine was a favourite of festivals everywhere and the undoubted star of the show at Annan Harbour Festival.
A founder member of The Port Street Pirates, Roy loved to welcome ‘pirates’ of all ages on board – and this year's festival will see the inaugural ‘Captain Roy Prize for Best Dressed Pirate’ – which will be judged and presented by his daughter, Pam Halliday.
There will be prizes for best-dressed mermaids, too, presented by the festival's headline sponsor Cubby Construction.
⚓ Held each September at the historic harbour, the free Annan Harbour Festival brings together thousands of people for a day of live music, crafts, food, environmental activities, family fun, and cultural exchange. It plays a vital role in promoting inclusion, creativity, and wellbeing in the town and surrounding region.

🚣🏽‍♂️ 🔔 Just a quick note (official photos to follow) to thank everyone who took part in or supported our annual Bell Raid race across the Solway, from Annan to Bowness-on-Solway, today.
Some great results, tremendous rowing, a Pirate, and a Viking - and we were honoured to have the family of our beloved Captain Roy Kerr of Tall Ship La Malouine come to our post-row party.
Great to welcome rowing clubs from Wigtown Bay, Stranraer, Portpatrick - this year's winners - and Bowness.

Annan Coastal Rowers look forward to welcoming you to our fundraising stall at Annan Harbour Farmers and Producers Market from 10am-2pm. As well as refreshments and our tombola, there are some gorgeous handcrafted nautical-themed items including keyrings and paracord bracelets; stylish tartan totes, bottle bags, pouches, and scrunchies; china cup & saucer birdfeeders, and art. Come along and meet members of our crew, and learn about rowing opportunities with the club.

Annan Harbour Coastal Rowers were proud to join Wigtown Bay Coastal Rowing Club, Stranraer Coastal Rowing Club, Portpatrick Coastal Rowing Club, and Hippo Coastal Rowing Club of Garlieston for a special celebration at the Isle of Whithorn on May 1 to welcome Eala, the beautiful wooden craft made by Machars-based boat builder Gail McGarva, to the fleet, with an oar salute and sea procession.
A traditional tribute to a St Ayles skiff, and the only one of its kind in the world, Eala was made as part of a special project with Whithorn Rebuild - Building Futures Galloway, a youth employability scheme which equips young people with heritage construction skills.

🌊 🎁 Thank you to everyone who supported us at our second fundraising stall at Annan Harbour Farmers and Producers Market on Saturday.
We had such a great time, selling gorgeous handmade items including paracord bracelets and nautical keyrings, cup and saucer bird feeders, tartan totes, makeup bags, bottle bags, and bows, and giving people the chance to win from the best (and most eclectic) tombola in town.
Thank you to everyone who supported our refreshments stall, too.
Your pennies and pounds help power our efforts to buy much-needed kit for the club and fund essential maintenance of our beautiful community-built St Ayles skiffs. 🚣
