Firstly, from all of us, a huge and heartfelt thank you for the incredible support we’ve received, both publicly and privately.
The messages, calls, comments and people stopping us in the street have honestly meant more than we can say. At what has been a pretty heartbreaking time, that kindness has really mattered.
One thing has also becomeu clear from the response we’ve received:
There is a real desire from the community to see Resonate happen here in Ampthill, in our hometown park.
We’ve also heard some understandable questions about what happened, so we wanted to add a little more clarity.
Our premises licence for Resonate at Ampthill Great Park had been granted earlier this year. Alongside that, we continued working through the separate event planning and Safety Advisory Group process, responding to requirements, revisions and additional information requested along the way.
Unfortunately, despite an enormous amount of work from everyone involved, that safety assurance process was not able to be concluded in the time available and, ultimately, permission to use Ampthill Great Park for the event was not given by the landowner.
When it became clear that Great Park was no longer available to us, we secured an alternative venue and attempted to relocate an entire three-day festival at extremely short notice.
We reached the point where we had to ask if we could still deliver the event we’d promised.
Nobody wanted Resonate to happen more than us. We’ve poured nearly two years of work, energy and heart into creating something we hoped would be really special for this community, and we’re absolutely devastated that it came to this.
But the response over the last few days has also given us something incredibly positive to take forward.
We couldn’t honestly say that we could.
Cancelling was therefore the only responsible decision we felt we could make.
For now, our priority is looking after our customers, artists, sponsors, suppliers, partners and everyone else affected.
