Brathay 10in10 2026 - Day 5 Round-Up

That's half-way, that's 5 out of 10 marathons completed for ! Day 5 is always tough, but the runners are superstars and hitting amazing milestones.

Gary Howells continues to build momentum, getting faster each day, clocking 4:16 on Day 5.

Meanwhile, John McCann is doing his third Brathay 10in10 at aged 74. Already the record-holder in the V60 and V65 categories, he's showing remarkable endurance, finishing today in 6:17.

It's worth remembering, each runner who comes in spends longer out on the course than those ahead of them, meaning less time for recovery between runs. But they all show up with the same determination and resilience, making truly special.

Unfortunately, due to injury, Olly Holroyd had to withdraw today from the event. Olly had a fantastic journey to the . Having been a Sport Rehabilitation student a few years before for the 10in10 he was inspired to run the last day marathon and then sign up to take on the 10in10 himself. We hope to see him back when he is fully recovered to take it on again!

Fantastic to have VOOM Nutrition as a sponsor of the Brathay 10in10 2026.

262 miles in 10 days is no small feat, and having the right nutrition and hydration is key to helping runners recover, refuel, and get back out there day after day. That's how they raise more vital funds to help young people build confidence, resilience, and meaningful connections in their communities.

Speaking with our Race Director and Fundraising Lead, Scott Umpleby, we talk about the importance VOOM's help and expertise to the event.

Brathay 10in10 - Day 10 Round Up

That's a wrap - huge congratulations to the 14 runners who completed this years Brathay 10in10. Well done !

Sunny weather was on the side of the many spectators we had today, but a cool breeze helped all of the runners who started today reach the finish line. 10 marathons in 10 days is an incredible achievement and we're so grateful to the entire team for taking on this iconic challenge to raise money for young people and inspire their brighter futures.

The team's current fundraising total is over £70,000! But you can still give your support and donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/2026brathay10in10.

Every pound goes towards providing a young person with a transformative experience that helps them build confidence, connection and belief in themselves.

We can't end the day without announcing the news that Rob Harrison has broken the Brathay 10in10 record! His overall time for the 10 days is 28:14:19, but he also broke the lap record by running today in a staggering 2:39:45. Well done Rob! Brathay 10in10 2026 - Day 7 Round-Up

Three days left to go 👟 There is understandably some tired runners at Brathay Hall today as 15 runners have run 7 marathons in a row. But, they are still going strong and, importantly, still smiling!

It's such a tough challenge, that's why the support from each other is so important over the ten days. It's great to see the community of runners growing and you can see why runners come back again and again. This year we have have five returners from previous year: Bassit Brigeuch, Stuart Kibble, Izzy Creed, John McCann and Duncan Evans, who are all running really well, but also supporting and giving a few tips to the first timers.

Johnny Currie is also always there to support a runner on the road, or lift spirits at the end of the day. He's come back this year after having to retire in 2025 due to injury. It's great to see him back on the course at Day 7 - you've got this Johnny!

If you're inspired by the team, please give them your support and donate to their fundraiser. They have nearly reach £55,000 and aiming for a £100k target:

Brathay 10in10 2026 - Day 6 Round-Up

Day 6 and had some fantastic local support cheering them on, including the regular hand-fives from Hawkshead and Esthwaite Primary School, but also pupils from Ingleton Primary School at the finishes line.

Having run six marathons in a row (!) we still have some very consistent runners including, Matt Pierson, Ashleigh Greenwood, Kevin Brocklehurst, David Irwin and Susie Anton who are all attempting their first Brathay 10in10.

Izzy Creed is back for her second Brathay 10in10 and is already ahead by 7 hours and 18 minutes compared to last year! 👟

The runners had an unexpected cheerleader at the finish line, as Katie Thompson unfortunately had to withdraw from the event today due to an injury. Katie has been an incredible runner, not only doing her first back-to-back marathon, but in fact five in a row 😲 Katie can be super proud of what she's achieved and her team were grateful for the hugs at the end.

Back-to-back marathons are tough, and sometimes things don't always line up on the day it needs to, but the support that the provides from sports rehabilitation and recovery, to coaching on route and camaraderie from supporters and fellow makes it such a special event.
