Jane Austen Regency Week

Jane Austen Regency Week Jane Austen Regency Week takes place in the last week of June each year in Alton and Chawton in Hampshire

Jane Austen is a historically important and iconic writer who lived and worked on our doorstep 200 years ago. The events celebrate both Jane Austen and the Regency era, both very relevant to our area.

Join Jane Austen's Family for a Regency Picnic at Chawton House.

Less than three weeks away—and there are still tickets available.

At 12 noon on Sunday 21st June, my parents, family and I are hosting a Regency picnic at Dyers Barn, in the grounds of Chawton House. It's a joyful afternoon and we'd love to see you there.

Spread your picnic blanket, enjoy homemade lemonade, and spend an afternoon with Jane Austen's family.

I'll be sharing a special artifact from our private family collection and a childhood memory of growing up at Chawton House.

There will be special guest speakers, a Regency circus performer, and an exciting update from the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation—including the announcement of the winner of our 2026 Short Story Writing Competition and a narration of the winning story.

Tickets are ÂŁ15 per person including homemade lemonade (bring your own picnic), or ÂŁ30 including a Regency picnic box prepared by Chawton House, with a Prosecco add-on available for ÂŁ6.

Regency costume is encouraged but absolutely not essential. In case of poor weather, the picnic moves into the barn.

All profits go to the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation and Chawton House.

This is a wonderful afternoon for anyone who loves Jane Austen, history, or simply wants to spend a beautiful summer afternoon in the grounds of one of Hampshire's most loved historic homes.
