Seven years old and already doing her bit for the countryside👏🌿

A huge congratulations to Elaina Love, winner of the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust Young Gamekeeper Award (Junior)!

At CherryValley Estate in Co. Antrim, Elaina helps care for birds from day-old chicks through to feeding them to the whistle once released. Last winter, she didn’t miss a single Saturday shoot, joining the beating line whatever the weather.

Her enthusiasm, hard work and care for the birds and land are something to celebrate. It’s wonderful to see that passion recognised at such a young age💚

BASC has brought wildfowling to Westminster with a parliamentary screening of Call of the Marsh, its new documentary with The Origins Foundation.

Filmed on the Ribble Estuary in Lancashire, Call of the Marsh takes viewers out onto the saltmarshes that wildfowlers know better than almost anyone. In their own words, they talk about the friendships, the wild food, the early mornings on the foreshore and the habitat they spend their lives caring for. The film won Best Documentary Short at the London Independent Film Awards in August 2026.

Robbie Moore MP described it as incredibly moving, saying: “If the stories do not continue, if the conservation does not continue and if the shooting does not continue … then everything is lost.”

At The Game Fair, we’re playing our part in keeping those stories, skills and traditions alive, sharing them with new audiences and the next generation...

If you’ve met Chris Green - The Cornish Countryman - you’ll have seen that passion in action. Introduced to wildfowling by his father at just 11, Chris now shares a lifetime of knowledge with our visitors, alongside his Labrador, Alfie, and a rather memorable eight-bore goose gun.

From August’s grouse moors to September’s partridge days, the season has been building. Today, the much-anticipated pheasant season opens, and the British shooting season moves into full swing.

£24,000 raised to support the future of British gunmaking 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that The Game Fair 2026 raised more than £24,000 for our Official Charity Partner, The Gunmakers Trust.

The total includes £17,379.50 donated through our box office, more than £7,000 raised through the silent auction in the VIP Enclosure sponsored by JM Finn, and an additional contribution from the English Disabled Fly Fishers.

The funds could help support up to five new apprentices, preserving traditional gunmaking skills and nurturing the next generation of talented craftspeople.

A huge thank you to every visitor, exhibitor, sponsor, partner and supporter who contributed - and to The Gunmakers Trust for the vital work it continues to do.

To some, 12th August is simply another summer’s day. To others, the Glorious Twelfth is one of the most significant dates in the rural calendar: the opening of the red grouse season and the continuation of a tradition stretching back generations.

After two challenging seasons, reports from the moors offer grounds for cautious optimism. That recovery matters to gamekeepers, beaters, pickers-up, hospitality businesses and upland communities, as well as to the chefs and diners who value grouse as one of Britain’s most distinctive wild foods.

Today is about tradition and rural livelihoods, but also stewardship and respect for the land.

We look ahead with hope to see how the season unfolds.

We have very exciting news… The Game Fair is returning to Blenheim Palace for its 69th anniversary!

From elite gundog competitions and clay shooting to fly fishing demonstrations and conservation talks, the very best of the countryside will return to the Palace once again.

And for those who want to experience every moment, camping and glamping will offer the chance to stay at the heart of The Game Fair for the full weekend.
