In just 4 weeks' time, over 200 runners will be lining up on the start line of the Blackrod Scarecrow 10k, ready to tackle our fantastic multi-terrain route through the village, countryside, canal towpaths and trails. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

I've just collected these fantastic local prizes from The Tree Barn in Blackrod 🌳, TWO £25 vouchers which will be awarded to local runners. A huge thank you to The Tree Barn for supporting the event and our local running community.

We’re back for year three.

Two strong years behind us. Bigger plans for 2026.

Last year a few people messaged saying they’d left it too late and missed out — so this year we’ve increased capacity to 250 runners (up from 200).

But here’s the reality: races don’t fill because people intend to enter.
They fill because people actually click the link.

Entries are open.
Places are going.
June comes round quickly.

Blackrod is warming up. Literally. Metaphorically. Possibly nervously.

We’re already 30 entries in and counting — which means at least 30 people have looked at Blackrod at 9am on a Sunday morning and said, “yes, that sounds like a sensible way to spend my weekend”.

New for 2026:
🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ You can now add an optional “Hero” T-shirt when you enter.
Because running 10K around Blackrod at 9am on a Sunday absolutely qualifies as heroic behaviour — whether you’re racing at the front or just determined to finish upright.

This race is all about bringing people together, welcoming runners from further afield, and giving the village a proper buzz on the day.

We’re still looking for sponsors or prize donations (vouchers, goodies, brag-worthy rewards) for leading runners and categories. It’s a great way to support a local event and get your name in front of a very appreciative crowd of runners, supporters, and people wondering why anyone does this for fun.
