This morning Flick from Flappy Inky Feathers and Marion from Aurora Consulting spent some time with the lovely staff from GREC to submit our report to Police Scotland regarding the troll who tried so hard to disrupt our Autistic Pride Aberdeen event.

The GREC staff are brilliant. They gave us good guidance in advance of what to expect and bullet pointed ideas. If you need to report a hate crime in the Grampian area I strongly recommend seeking support from GREC.

Flick was brilliant at writing all the information out and filling out the reports to Zoom.

We will share any further updates as and when we can but as we said before, our Pride is stronger than their hate and we are so grateful for all the community and support you have given us all.

Hi everyone, we want to address the trolling which took place during last night’s Infodump session.

We have reached out to GREC for support in reporting it to the Police as a hate crime since it targeted a disabled group. We will also be exploring with them whether or not other crimes may have been committed due to the nature of the trolling.

We are carrying out a review of procedures as – while we are not the first organisation to be targeted like this – we don’t want this to happen again. As a committee we are exploring multiple options to implement at future events and will share these once we have made decisions.

We strongly condemn the offensive actions from the troll. We know that it was distressing for all, including our team. It was absolutely not what any of us wanted when we logged on for an evening of community.

Thank you so much for those of you who were able to persevere and helped to make the rest of the evening a joyful and supportive event. It would have been very easy to just cancel, but we will not let the trolls win and put us off celebrating our community and culture.

It was brilliant to hear so many thoughtful, insightful, comprehensive infodumps delivered so passionately! We only wish we had more time.

We will be back for another infodump session on Autistic Pride Day next year (June 18th 2026) with further enhanced protocols in place.

Trolls invading our space show that people are uncomfortable and taking notice of the community. That they think our events are worth disrupting. This makes it all the more important that we carry on as a community, heads held high, and not giving them the satisfaction of putting us all off celebrating our Autistic identities and community. Our Autistic Pride is stronger than their hate

Signed

It’s just two weeks till our Autistic Pride Aberdeen festive spinfodump session hosted by Aurora Consulting!

We cannot wait, we love hearing folks enthusing and being passionate about all manner of different topics.

Marion going to talk about disability representation in Star Trek (who is surprised 😂) cause it’s something they just love talking about.

Last December we had a plushie proposal from one of our younger folks and it was adorable.

People are totally welcome along to just enjoy the atmosphere without sharing an infodump! And if you’d like someone else to read out something you’ve written, we got you covered for that too.

It can be showing off a collection, sharing some info, showing off your creativity, whatever you like!

Not in Scotland? You are still incredibly welcome to join us! We’ve had folks from all over the world before.

Not sure if you’re Autistic but want to dip your toe into the community? You’re welcome too! Folks of all neurotypes are welcome. Autistic Pride is open to those seeking to show allyship and support friends and family.

What would you like to infodump about?

Have you signed up yet?

It’s just over 3 weeks till our Autistic Pride Aberdeen infodump - 9th December 5:30-7pm

I can’t wait to co-host with the awesome Flick from Flappy Inky Feathers along with our fabulous committee which also features Alex from Out the Box Crafts!

Someone said to me this week that they just don’t know what to infodump about! And I so get that, there are so many different topics.

The good news is this is a regular event we do every 6 months so whatever you don’t infodump about now, you’ll have another opportunity!

We sometimes have children in attendance so we ask people to keep it rated 12 and under.

At our festive event last year we had a plushie proposal which was super cute! We have also had people talk about Star Trek, Star Wars, marvel movies and comics, Dr Who, beach combing, corvids, Lego, dungarees, cars, snails, and more.

You can show off a collection, talk about any subject you’re passionate about, share a presentation, whatever you like.

Want to share into but don’t want to / can’t speak in front of others? We’ve got you covered! Send us the info and we will read it out for you. We have done this multiple times before and we love doing this too.

Y’all know where the sign up details are.

We are thrilled to announce that Autistic Pride Aberdeen is back for another Spinfodump session hosted by Aurora Consulting.

What’s that you ask?

During this free event Autistic people of all ages will have the opportunity to talk on a subject of their choosing that they are really passionate about.

Past topics include: Star Trek, corvids, Doom, Doctor Who, snails, beach combing, plushies, Sylvanian Families, cars, Lego, and much more!

Participants are under no obligation to share a talk on a topic, and can decide to do so at any time during the event. People have shared presentations, websites, a tour of their collection, or talked directly without visual aids. You are welcome to come along and share space without infodumping.

We also support non speaking Autistics and are happy to read out anything submitted and deliver presentations on your behalf. Sharing infodumps in the chat are welcomed too!

This online family friendly event is completely free and will not be recorded to ensure privacy for participants.

Date: 9th December 2025

Time 5:30 – 7pm

Price: Free

Marion and Nigel from the Autistic Pride Aberdeen committee had a fab time meeting up with the lovely Oliver Wright from STV News this afternoon.

We talked about the new recommendations from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the need for working directly with Autistic Disabled People’s Organisations and local Autistic communities to make sure we are getting assessment pathways right, and the impact of long waiting lists and non existent pathways.

We absolutely agree that there is a crisis and we need more medical professionals to engage with us and realise that Autistic well being is everyone’s responsibility.

You can (hopefully!) catch us on STV News at 6!

Our local community matters a lot to us, here at Autistic Pride Aberdeen, so Alex, Nigel, and Marion had a fun evening out to support Aberdeen Arts Centre last night!

They held a fund raising quiz in which we were delighted to come in a respectable 4th place!

Given they mentioned movies like Wrath of Khan in their advertising with this being their second fundraiser, and all three of us being Trekkies, we opted for the team name Moopsy. So obvs Marion brought along their Moopsy t shirt and Moopsy plush for good luck, cuteness, and co-regulation cuddles when it got a bit noisy. Moopsy was on their best behaviour. Most of the time… Star Trek questions have been requested for next time 🖖
