At Peakrace, we simply want to see more women hiking and flying, and more women competing.

We believe that reducing the level of risk often associated with hike & fly races can encourage more participants to take the start line. We are committed to equal visibility, equal media coverage, and equal prize money. We also provide dedicated toilets with menstrual products available on site.

But we’re curious: what else could we do to make hike & fly racing more welcoming and accessible for women?

PEAKRACE is for everyone.

You don’t need to be an elite pilot to join PEAKRACE.
If you’re an experienced XC pilot looking for a new challenge, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to test your strategy, flying and endurance.

If you’re newer to XC or curious about competition, you’ll find a welcoming environment, learn a lot, and share the experience with pilots of all levels.

The same goes for the PEAKRACE Mini. Maybe you’re a strong hiker who enjoys big climbs and mountain days. Maybe you’re a pilot who has never entered a race before and wants to discover what hike & fly competition is all about. The Mini was created with you in mind.

Beyond the rankings, PEAKRACE is also about spending a few days together with people who share the same passion. Flying, hiking, talking routes, sharing stories, learning from each other and enjoying time in the mountains.

The race is only part of the experience.

Safety comes first. We’re proud to partner with Icecode to help push things forward.
The concept is simple: a sticker with a QR code that gathers all your essential medical information in case of an accident. Each participant sets up their profile via an app, takes part in the race, and leaves with their sticker. 🤘

Women are still underrepresented in hike & fly competitions.

Often, it’s not a question of ability — but of confidence, legitimacy, and the feeling of truly belonging on the start line.
Access, representation and the way the framework is designed matter.

At PEAKRACE, inclusion is built into the race.

– Priority registration for women
– Equal prize money and awards for women and men
– A single course and the same race, so women and men compete together

Because being inclusive does not mean ignoring differences.
It means acknowledging them — and designing a framework where they don’t become barriers to participation or commitment.

These are not symbolic choices.
They are structural decisions, meant to build confidence and make the start line more accessible and legitimate for women.

Today, women represent less than 10% of hike & fly pilots.

This is not about ability. It is largely about access, representation, and the way risk is perceived and managed in the sport.
When the framework is unclear, commitment becomes a barrier rather than a choice.

PEAKRACE was built from this observation.
By offering a structured, progressive and reassuring environment, we aim to build confidence, legitimacy and long-term engagement — and open the start line to more women.

This comes from a clear observation: in an outdoor race, fairness doesn’t happen by chance. It has to be designed.
