✨ GAUCHOUX OPEN - 10 ANS ✨

Une semaine de fête, 4 jours de compétitions, 100 cavaliers-archers, 16 nations représentées… Le monde entier réuni autour du tir à l’arc à cheval !

Cette année, nous avons célébré 10 ans d’aventure au Domaine de Gauchoux :
-10 ans d'aventure avec une équipe projet d'exception fournissant un travail acharné,
-10 ans de réflexion sur le meilleur format de l'événement,
-10 ans consacrés à l'aménagement des pistes, au travail des chevaux et à l'hospitalité,
-10 ans de passion nous permettant d'impliquer tous les volontaires qui nous ont suivi au sein de ce projet.

Nous avons fourni cette année des moyens jamais déployés sur notre site. Il était important pour nous de pouvoir montrer que nous étions capables de pousser les curseurs à tous les niveaux :
- Lourds investissements sur les pistes🎯
- Equipes de régie technique - Rediffusion en direct & écran géant sur site🎥
- 3 niveaux d'épreuves dont la Coupe du monde de Chasse🏆
- Des partenariats de plus en plus solides 🤝

One week of celebration, 4 days of competitions, 100 horseback archers, 16 nations represented… The world gathered around the art of horseback archery!

This year, we celebrated 10 years of adventure at Domaine de Gauchoux:

10 years of commitment with an exceptional project team delivering relentless work,

10 years of reflection to create the best event format,

10 years dedicated to track design, horse training, and hospitality,

10 years of passion, engaging volunteers who have stood with us throughout this journey.

For this anniversary edition, we raised the bar higher than ever before. It was essential for us to show that we could push every limit:

The Gauchoux Open 2025 marks the 10th edition of this iconic horseback archery event – and this year, it hosts the prestigious Hunting Track World Cup.

Event occurring from August 18th to 23rd

🇬🇧Gauchoux Open – 2025 Edition
What is it?
🎂It’s the 10th edition of the most anticipated competition of the year in the world of horseback archery. The event is renowned for its courses, horses, moments of camaraderie and competition — but also for its iconic venue: Gauchoux 🍃

This year, it’s back — with one goal: to host the Hunting Track World Cup.
Hunting tracks are the very soul of horseback archery. They embody the harmony between horse and rider, the ability to manage stress and physical effort, horsemanship, strategy, and much more. It is through these courses that the best riders of the discipline emerge 🏅

This year, the competition promises to be intense for the 4* level, as riders will compete over three days of hunting tracks, followed by a final on the Skirmish track on the fourth day.

Alongside all this excitement, the 2 and 3 competitions will, of course, still take place, featuring the Tower, Raid, and of course Hunt events…

Ready to take on this new challenge?

• Day 1 – Technical:
A hunting course with 50% of the track guided (lined path) – includes driving difficulty, complex elements on the course (mandatory passage, changes of pace, jumps).
• Day 2 – Classical:
A long hunting course, with 80% of the track guided (track corridor), and one long-distance segment.
• Day 3 - Freestyle:
A hunting course combining control and precision, technical difficulty, several long-distance segments, only 20% of the track is guided, with multiple jumps.
• Day 4 - Skirmish final

🇫🇷 Gauchoux Open édition 2025.
Qu’est ce que c’est?
🎂C’est la 10e édition de la compétition la plus attendue de l’année dans le domaine du tir à l’arc à cheval dans le monde. L’évènement est connu pour ses pistes, chevaux, moments de partages et compétition, mais également pour son lieu emblématique qu’est Gauchoux 🍃

Cette année, elle revient. Avec un objectif: organiser la coupe du monde de parcours de chasse. Les parcours de chasse sont l’âme même du tir à l’arc à cheval. Ils reflètent la communion entre l’équidé et son cavalier, la maîtrise du stress, de l’effort, l’équitation, la stratégie et bien plus encore. À travers ceux-ci se dégagent les meilleurs cavaliers de la discipline 🏅

Ainsi donc, cette année la compétition risque d’être rude pour le niveau 4* qui se voit se battre sur 3 jours de parcours de chasse et une finale sur la piste Skirmish le 4e jour de compétition.

A coté de tout cet engouement se dérouleront toujours bien évidemment les épreuves 2* et 3* avec leurs épreuves Tower, Raid et bien sûr Hunt…

Prêts pour ce nouveau défi à relever ?

Concernant la Hunt World Cup :
- 1er jour Technical : parcours de chasse avec 50% de piste encadrée - difficulté de conduite, élément complexe sur le parcours (Passage obligatoire, variation d'allure, sauts)
- 2ème jour Classical : parcours de chasse long, comprenant 80% de piste encadrée (couloir de piste), et 1 long distance
- 3ème jour - Freestyle : Parcours de chasse alliant conduite et précision, technicité, plusieurs long distance, parcours avec 20% de pistes encadrée, plusieurs sauts.

*Additional details for the 4-star event*

For the 4* event, we advise that competitors have a minimum riding level to participate. We recommend consulting the HEC Rider Grades (https://eurasiancavalry.com/rider-grading/) and suggest that if they believe they are at at least Rider Level 2 (ideally Rider Level 3), then they are at an appropriate riding level to compete in this category.

As part of the 4* event, on the day before the 4* competition begins, there will be a rider grading session using the HEC Rider Grades for all participants of this division, in order to allow them to achieve some grade and assess their ability for their own feedback as well as to better prepare themselves and their horses for the event. Andrew Ó Donnghaile will be running this.
