Some sweet guest love from our most recent couples retreat

My partner and I have returned from our retreat at Talberou with Nurturing Niki (our new name for her).

Our delectable adventure began with a tour of the beautiful grounds, including the wood-fired hot tub with massage jets, the bright, easy outdoor kitchen area, and the grand, open barn. We were then escorted to our private yurt, which was breathtakingly beautiful with so many thoughtful touches such as a small library of excellent books and gorgeous toiletries. Please note, the yurt has electricity as well as a wood fired stove, so no need to come laden with rechargeable lamps and power packs (like we did) just one or two torches for when you leave the yurt at night.

Once into the evening, we had a moonlit dinner hand prepared by Niki. Our “dates” were small, easy, fun experiences with gentle promts to share and delight in one another. My favourite was the Market Square experience, and my partner’s was the Wine Tasting. We were supplied with a picnic hamper for each date with delicious al fresco lunches.

We enjoyed outdoor movies on a massive screen projector in the barn with a roaring fire and popcorn (which we forgot to eat because we were too busy smooching and marvelling at the beauty of everything).

We felt so cared for. And once we got home, we felt stronger, more resilient, and more tuned-in to one another. 🧡

Behind every ‘perfect couple’ photo is a story. Let’s pull back the curtain and share the real, unfiltered moments that make our relationships uniquely ours. 📸✨ Toby always admired me for my adventurous spirit, seeing me as this fearless, wild-hearted woman. Truth be told, while I embraced the wild, I had one tiny glitch, I was actually terrified of the dark. Despite boasting about my solo wild camping escapades (a grand total of three nerve-wracking nights), I was far from the seasoned camper I portrayed 😬

Back in the very early days of our relationship, we decided to immerse ourselves in nature for two nights of foraging and living off the land. Determined to uphold my brave facade, I masked my apprehension as night fell. To calm my nerves, I indulged in a smoke, perhaps a tad too potent, which only amplified my anxiety.​

As Toby peacefully slept, I found myself spiraling into paranoia, convinced that shadows were figures lurking in the bushes. Unable to contain my fear, I shook him awake, insisting there was someone or something out there. Groggy and unimpressed, he reassured me before drifting back to sleep. The next morning, sensing his lingering irritation, I sheepishly blamed my outburst on a nightmare, conveniently omitting my overindulgence.​

Looking back, it’s a humorous reminder that even the boldest adventurers have their moments of vulnerability. Embracing our fears and sharing these candid experiences only adds depth to our wild-hearted tales.

Niki’s Love Hacks & Unpolished Truths Relationships built on adrenaline with travel, festivals, late-night adventures were what it was all about for us and it was amazing. And then what happens when life slows down? When the thrill of what’s next turns into ‘is this it?’
This is when the real connection starts. When we learn to meet each other in the silence & stillness, not just noise and chaos.
