⚡ [2025 Conference Throwback Series] Digital Identity Wallets: the next building block of trusted digital ecosystems?

At TRUSTECH 2025, a key conference explored how digital wallets are evolving far beyond simple ID storage — becoming powerful tools for data orchestration, KYC and payments.

From interoperability and financial inclusion to compliance and secure onboarding, digital wallets are reshaping the way we manage identity and transactions.

👉 The digital wallet is becoming a strategic interface between citizens, governments and financial services. And its future will depend on the ability to align technology, regulation and real-world use cases.

🚀 Behind the scenes of TRUSTECH 2026… Official kick-off meeting!

While we’ve been working on TRUSTECH 2026 since the last edition closed, this kick-off meeting marked an important milestone to bring the team together, align on our vision, set key priorities, and share insights on the trends shaping the future of payments and digital identity.

A warm thank you to Pierre-Francois PELTIER-VEILER from Linxens for his inspiring opening session on the evolution of smart card technologies, and his valuable insights on how TRUSTECH could be even better aligned with industry expectations.

A few key takeaways:
📅 The smart card ("carte à puce") was invented in 1974 by Roland MORENO
🎥 The story of Linxens, leader in the design and production of microconnectors for smartcards as well as RFID antennas and inlays, began with three engineers inspired by cinema projection technology (coil-based systems, or bobine in French). This innovation contributed to major milestones such as the first phone cards in 1983, the Carte Bleue system, GSM cards, biometric cards... "80% of the world's population uses at least one Linxens product every day"!
💡 Innovation is less about breakthrough technologies and more about usage, user experience and sustainability (materials, design, new features such as biometrics, metal cards or heavy cards...)
💳 The "card" form factor remains central, continuously evolving across industries — banking, mobility, healthcare, leisure, access control...
🌐 The future lies in the complementarity between physical and digital, combining convenience with trust and security (physical cards give a feeling of security regarding other devices).
🌍️ Payment & identity sovereignty remains a key priority in an increasingly digital world
