Born from a collective state of what they call “high-functioning de-evolution,” Primitive Ring are a rock and roll brotherhood comprised of Bert Hoover, Jon Modaff, and the guitar-wielding madman himself, Charles Moothart. You might recognise these blokes from their stellar work in heavy hitters like Fuzz, Ty Segall’s band, and Frankie and the Witch Fingers, but Primitive Ring is a completely different beast altogether. This is a band that completely bends the knee to the primal instincts of melody and rhythm, fusing a retro ’70s fuzz, proto-metal grit, and heavy psych-rock into something that hits you right in the chest like a runaway freight train.

“Despite its morbid title, unreleased newbie Time is Terminal accelerates faster still – as if the band are playing to outrun that teenage legacy, rather than indulge it. Are teenage dreams so hard to beat? Bus-pass punk feels just as essential. Here’s to the next 50 years”

Derry’s answer to the Ramones play 30 songs in a breakneck and breathless ride through the punk humour and new-wave surrealism of their repertoire

Happy snaps from our tour of The Cramps back in 1995. We caught up with Ivy (and Kid) about 5 years ago at the In The Red house. Ivy expressed how she and Lux were so sorry to have heard of Speedies passing. Speedie being the legendary roadie for Beasts of Bourbon, the Big Day Out and for The Cramps on that tour. He had died a long time before but it was the first thing Ivy mentioned. What’s the measure of a (wo)man?
