WELCOME ERIC CALMELS TO THE JOE BARR 500

This 54 year old cyclist from France is always looking for new challenges. His passion for ultra-cycling came after a double ankle operation ended his career as a firefighter and the many sports he was engaged in.

Eric says he "found, in bike, my means of expression and my resilience. The taste for performance and the landscapes of Ireland lend themselves very well to my vision. A vision that wants to lead me to the Race across America."

He goes on to say that, " I can't wait to participate and to be able to experience the intense emotions of this kind of event."

The Joe Barr 500, which is sponsored by Supersapiens, will be a family adventure with Eric's wife, daughter and son-in-law as his crew.

In 2023 THE JOE BARR 500 is the World Ultra-Cycling Association 500-mile European Championship as well as an official Race Across America qualifier.
