CCWC2020 WILL NOT BE HELD IN 2020

Dear Dragon Boat Community, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that the 12th IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in France will not be held in 2020.
We have no word to express our sadness but the health and wellbeing of all of you, our team, volunteers and everyone involved, is our sole consideration. We’ve been monitoring the situation for weeks but are now facing too much uncertainties, each day bringing new unprecedent challenges and sad news. The Organising Committee and the City of Aix les Bains are still committed to hosting the Championships in 2021. Our enthusiasm is still alive. We know you have plenty of questions, please be patient. The organizing committee and the IDBF are at your disposal to bring you appropriate answers.

LUCIE
Lucie is our “miss safety”, in charge of organizing first aid, rescue, and safety procedures on the racing site. Lucie is almost born on a kayak. She’s used to paddle since her childhood and shares a huge love for dragon boating. She has been running Dragon Boat Attitude together with Sylvain for over 10 years and has participated to the organization of two ECCC in France and many big festivals.

CECILE
Cécile is the one behind the CCWC page. In charge of the championships’ communication she has plenty of photos and videos of you, and you, maybe you as well in her computer. Press kit, media releases, she can talk about dragon boat for hours and knows the legend of Qu Yuan by heart. Assiduous paddler since many years, she loves giving her best or shouting on teammates behind the drum to make them give their best!

SYLVAIN
You must know him! Sylvain is our CCWC’s managing director. He is our beloved boss, the one who believed in the CCWC2020 project from the very beginning. He flew straight to China in 2017 to present the French candidacy and won the competition facing the city of Hong-Kong and Macao in the finals. Sylvain is multitalented and experienced. He is leading Dragon Boat Attitude, the company which already successfully organized the 2015 and 2017 Club Crew European Championships in Divonne-les-Bains. Don’t tell him that you’re rowing in a dragon boat, no guys, you are PADDLING! 💪🐉🐉

We've been talking about the CCWC2020 for months without having said a word about the team involved in the organization. People working for CWCC are passionate and committed. Let me first introduce Hugues

Hugues is managing AIX LES BAINS 2020, the CCWC organizing committee. Call him Mister President! His mission is to coordinate the various governing bodies, host city and organizers, to make all of them work efficiently together. He is “Mister Championships” when it comes to deal with political institutions and private companies, to bring people together and to build enthusiasm. Being an expensive event, Hugues is also responsible for rising funds to ensure the success of this unique competition.

[COVID 19 UPDATE]

We are monitoring the situation very closely. A decision on whether to proceed with CCWC Championships will be made by mid-May at the latest.

But we are confident and look forward to seeing all of you in top form in August on our beautiful Lac du Bourget, Aix les Bains Riviera des Alpes ! 💪 🐉 So far please take care of yourself. The coronavirus will only be a bad memory. The power of the dragon is stronger and the best answer to give to this unprecedent situation is to work hard to set an amazing event 🥇🥈🥉
