🎥 LET OUR MOUNTAINS LIVE
Eilen Sammatti Film Festivaalilla nähtiin Håvard Bustnessin ohjaama dokumentti LET OUR MOUNTAINS LIVE, joka kertoo saamelaisyhteisön pitkästä taistelusta perinteisten laidunmaiden ja elinkeinonsa puolesta.
Jo kahdenkymmenen vuoden ajan Sissel Stormo Holtan, Elise Årbogen ja Terje Haugen ovat vastustaneet Euroopan suurimman maalla sijaitsevan tuulivoimahankkeen rakentamista Fosenin vuoristoalueelle. Norjan korkein oikeus totesi myöhemmin, että tuulivoimapuisto loukkaa saamelaisten ihmisoikeuksia – m***a voimalat ovat edelleen paikoillaan.
Elokuva nostaa esiin vaikean kysymyksen siitä, mitä tapahtuu, kun vihreä siirtymä ja alkuperäiskansan oikeudet joutuvat vastakkain. Voiko luonnon suojeleminen tarkoittaa toisenlaista luonnon ja perinteisen elämän tuhoamista?
Elokuvan päähenkilö Sissel Stormo Holtan oli mukana festivaalilla vieraana. 🌿

🎥 LET OUR MOUNTAINS LIVE
Yesterday at the Sammatti Film Festival, we screened Håvard Bustness’s documentary LET OUR MOUNTAINS LIVE, telling the story of a Sámi community’s long struggle to protect their traditional grazing lands and way of life.
For twenty years, Sissel Stormo Holtan, Elise Årbogen and Terje Haugen have fought against the construction of Europe’s largest onshore wind power project in the Fosen mountain region. Norway’s Supreme Court later ruled that the wind farm violates Sámi human rights – yet the turbines remain standing.
The film raises a difficult and highly relevant question: what happens when the green transition comes into conflict with the rights of an Indigenous people? Can the pursuit of renewable energy come at the cost of traditional ways of life and the relationship between people and the land?
Sissel Stormo Holtan, the central figure of the film, joined us at the festival as a guest. 🌿
