Oulu is Finland’s cycling city and on 14 June, it shows why once again. Circus Festival Ou and Oulu Urban Culture are joining forces to turn one cycling route into something unlike anything you’d expect. Experience Circus Festival Ou x Cyklemania.

Departure from Pikisaari at 13:30. From there, a roughly one-hour procession sets off towards the Circus Village in Hiukkavaara and the journey is at least as important as the destination. Along the way, expect circus surprises and moments of pure community. Live music comes courtesy of Väylävirasto, aka Roku Rousu & Kulttuurisykkeli Heikki. Cycling and palying music, because why not?

Festival ticket holders receive a free popcorn, redeemed at the starting point using a stone handed out at departure. Not just any stone, it’s a handcrafted piece of art that travels back with the procession to Hiukkavaara. Every cyclist leaves a small piece of themselves at the festival grounds.

Ecological, free of charge, and fun at its finest!!

“Although we are always on the road, it’s incredible how frequently we see each other. The circus community is in constant orbit, taking us everywhere and reuniting us in the most unexpected of places. We have come to know little pockets of the world—like Trutnov, Recklinghausen, or Jokkmokk—in oddly comforting and familiar ways.

2026 marks ten years since graduating circus school. This collection feels like a scrapbook of the times we’ve shared offstage together, shot on film. Thank you, friends, for the intimate, outrageous, and adventurous moments we’ve created together all over the world!”

Fun! Fun! Fun! is a street circus performance that brings the tradition of the jester into the present day. At its center is a market stall where audience-customers can order circus experiences. The offerings range from professional entertainment performances to content suitable for social media—and at an affordable price, as the performers pay the customers for their orders!

The performance includes high-flying acrobatics, juggling, and circus tricks performed by the audience. It can be presented as part of an event program or appear as a surprise for its audience.

Haemme majoittajia taiteilijoille/ festivaali työntekijöille – avaa ovesi ja sydämesi!

Circus Festival OU tulee Ouluun kesäkuussa 2026 ja tarvitsemme apuasi!

Oulussa 12.–18.6.2026 järjestettävä Circus Festival OU on Oululle jotain aivan uutta: kansainvälistä nykysirkusta, katutaidetta, yllätyksiä ja pientä magiaa. Festivaali on osa Oulu2026 Euroopan kulttuuripääkaupunkivuotta, ainutlaatuinen hetki ja tapahtuma. Festivaalin pyörittämiseen tarvitaan ihmisiä ja niitä ihmisiä tarvitaan myös nukkumaan jonnekin. 🙂

Olemme onnekkaita sirkustaiteen ammattilaisia ja saamme tueksemme itse järjestelyyn myös vapaaehtoisia taiteilijoita. Heille etsimme majoitusta.
Etsimme oululaisia ihmisiä ja koteja, jotka voisivat majoittaa festivaali vapaaehtoiset.
Majoitusaika on 12.–18.6.2026, ja voit itse valita, kuinka m***a yötä (1–7 yötä) olet mukana. Vieraasi voisi olla esimerkiksi festivaalijärjestäjä, tekninen tukihenkilö tai muu talkoolainen, joka omalla panoksellaan pitää festivaalin pyörimässä.

We're looking for hosts for artists and festival workers – open your door and your heart!

Circus Festival OU is coming to Oulu in June 2026 and we need your help!

Circus Festival OU, taking place in Oulu from June 12–18, 2026, is something completely new for Oulu: international contemporary circus, street art, surprises, and a little bit of magic. The festival is part of Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture year — a unique moment and event. Running a festival takes people, and those people also need somewhere to sleep. 🙂
We are lucky to have circus arts professionals joining us, and we are also welcoming volunteer artists to support the organizing effort. We are looking for accommodation for them.
We are looking for people and homes in Oulu that could host festival volunteers. The hosting period is June 12–18, 2026, and you can choose how many nights (1–7 nights) you want to participate. Your guest could be, for example, a festival organizer, a technical support person, or another volunteer who is contributing to keeping the festival running.
What we hope for from you:
A bed, sofa, or mattress
A friendly attitude and a touch of festival spirit.

What you get in return:
A warm thank-you from the festival team
A good feeling — you are part of something big and communal
A chance to peek behind the scenes and meet people whose life's work is movement, balance, and wonder
This is not hotel accommodation — this is host-an-artist energy. The best moments happen when people open their homes; that's where stories are born that will be remembered for decades.
