Esa brings a career that few can match. He led the EU Military Staff in Brussels for four years, served as permanent secretary at Finland's Ministry of Defence, and spent decades at the centre of European and NATO defence policy. His work helped shape Finland's path into NATO.

✨New milestone for 2.0: project delivered the first Intermediate Demonstration.

The project showcased key progress, technical achievements and the collaborative work driving this initiative forward.

➡️The demonstration was delivered by Kongsberg Gruppen, Nokia, Space Hellas, Telefónica & Ericsson and participated by Bittium and other project partners and representatives from Ministries of Defence from Norway, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Hungary, France and Latvia.

It highlighted not only the evolution of the project’s solutions, but also the strong teamwork, innovation and commitment behind the project. An important checkpoint that validates the work accomplished so far and shapes the next phases ahead.

We look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible by combining resilient tactical communications with 5G to enhance operational effectiveness for armed forces.

From North to South continues — Finland 🤝Portugal strengthening defence technology cooperation.

Following inspiring discussions in Madrid, it was a pleasure to continue the dialogue on European defence cooperation in Lisbon led by Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio.

Finnish and Portuguese defence industry representatives came together to explore opportunities for future collaboration. The programme included a roundtable organized by AICEP, offering an excellent forum for exchanging perspectives and identifying areas of mutual interest.

We contributed to the discussions with our expertise in resilient tactical communications and advanced outsourced R&D capabilities tailored for demanding defence applications.

From Madrid to Lisbon, one message stands out clearly: stronger cooperation across Europe’s defence ecosystem is essential for building future-ready capabilities.

A special highlight was the keynote by Lieutenant General Miguel Ivorra Ruiz, Director General for Strategy and Innovation of the Defence Industry at the Spanish Ministry of Defence. The program aims at enabling trustworthy, secure, and resilient end-to-end connectivity architectures and products including life-cycle services in various domains.
