At the end of May, we gathered our sales representatives from different market areas for HewSaw’s annual General Meeting.
The days included great discussions, market updates from each region, and visits to Isojoki Sawmill and Metsä Fibre’s Rauma sawmill 👏

We also had the pleasure of awarding the Salesperson of the Year 2025 recognition to Sales Manager Tuomo Kauppinen 🎉

The last day of the 2026 HewSaw International Wood Safari had both old and new.

The group spent the morning at the Makkarakoski Sawmill Museum in Noormarkku to gain some insights into where Finnish sawmilling started.

Then they had the opportunity to tour Metsä Fibre Rauma, Finland’s largest ever sawmill investment. The group got to check out the mill’s HewSaw SL250 5.5dx. It can process up to 40 logs per minute and produces up to 750,000 m³ (375 million BF) of pine sawn goods per year.

The week ended the right way, with an amazing Finnish dinner in Helsinki.

A huge thank you to all the mills who opened their doors to us this week, to the participants who travelled from around the world to be here, and to everyone on the HewSaw team who helped make the Safari possible.

Today we visited two highly advanced Finnish sawmills and saw HewSaw technology in action.

First stop was Koskisen in Järvelä, where the HewSaw SL250 3.3 is running strong in full-scale production.

From there we continued to Isojoen Saha, where their brand-new HewSaw SL250 2.2 is already up and running — a great example of next-level sawmilling in action.

On day 3 of the Wood Safari, the group kicked off their morning at Sahakuutio Sawmill in Kerimäki. The mill operates an older HewSaw R200 A.1. It was originally commissioned in 1994 and is still running strong, producing 90,000 m³ (45 million BF) of pine and spruce annually, primarily for export markets. In 2025, the mill added a new HewSaw edging unit to the line. This is a great example of how older equipment can be updated and modernized. A big thank you to Sahakuutio Sawmill for having us.

From there, the Safari made its way to Mäntyharju, home of Hewsaw. The group got a look at the factory, including the automated parts storage towers, the recently expanded paint shop, and many other areas.

Day 2 of the HewSaw International Wood Safari ✅

More mills, more insights, and plenty of Finnish scenery along the way

Tuesday’s visits included Stora Enso’s Oulu sawmill and Kuhmo Oy’s sawmill. At both sites, participants got to see the HewSaw SL250 3.3 sawline in action. Thank you for having us!

With long distances between locations, the journey itself has been part of the experience – offering continuous views of Finland’s forests right from the bus window.

This week, over 20 participants are taking part in the 2026 HewSaw International Wood Safari to Finland. The 6-day trip gives participants the opportunity to see some of the best of Finnish sawmilling, plus experience the country’s culture.

The trip kicked off in Rovaniemi, Finland, just south of the Arctic Circle, with a welcome reception. Early Monday morning, the group hit the road.

The first stop was Keitele Timber Kemijärvi. The mill produces up to 300,000 m³ (150 million BF) of Pine sawn products annually on its HewSaw R200 1.1, processing logs at up to 220 metres per minute. Next was a tour of Tervolan Saha ja Höyläämö, a family-owned operation that has been sawing since 1956. Today, the mill’s HewSaw SL250 2.2, installed in 2023, produces 120,000 m³ (60 million BF) annually.
In between mill visits, the group crossed the Arctic Circle and stopped for lunch at Santa Claus Village. Definitely not your average Monday.

April is a busy month for HewSaw, filled with customer events.

HewSaw was attending last week the COFI conference in Vancouver and this week will be even busier with MWC conference in Montreal, the 40th EXPO Richmond in Virginia, US and Forest Industry Seminar in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina.

The Forest Industry Seminar, a regional industry forum brings together key decision-makers from the forestry and timber sectors across Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The event is organized by Inderfor, HewSaw’s local representative.
