2026 ❤️‍🔥 Onur Tayranoğlu (Turkey): Q***r Autonomous Zone (Kuopio)

Q***r-autonominen vyöhyke (Kuopio) on julkinen seremonia, joka järjestetään Kuopion torilla 18.9.2026. Festivaaliviikon ajan toteutetaan myös päivittäinen yhteisöllinen rituaali johdantona päätapahtumaan.

Q***r-autonominen vyöhyke (Kuopio) on seremonia, joka ottaa kansallisen juhlan muodon. Sen sijaan että kunnioitettaisiin kansakuntaa tai valtiota, se kunnioittaa q***r-elämää, muistoja ja vastarintaa juhlistamalla q***r-autonomista vyöhykettä Kuopiossa.

Projekti perustuu ajatukseen siitä, että q***r-ihmiset ovat aina luoneet omia ”autonomisia alueitaan”. Ne eivät ole virallisia tai pysyviä alueita, vaan huolenpidon, selviytymisen ja solidaarisuuden tiloja, jotka voivat ilmetä kodeissa, klubeilla, chat-huoneissa, ystävyyssuhteissa, mielenosoituksissa tai jopa pienissä silmäyksissä ihmisten välillä.

Q***r Autonomous Zone (Kuopio) is a public ceremony that will take place in the Market Square of Kuopio on 18th September 2026. Throughout the festival week, a daily communal ritual will also be held as a prelude to the main event.

The ceremony reclaims the format of national celebrations, such as independence days. But instead of honoring a nation or a state, this ceremony celebrates q***r life, memory, and resistance by celebrating the Q***r Autonomous Zone’s independence in Kuopio.

The project is based on the idea that q***r people have always created their own “autonomous zones.” These are not official or permanent territories. They are spaces of care, survival, and solidarity. They can appear in homes, clubs, chatrooms, friendships, protests, or even in small moments of eye contact between people.

❤️‍🔥 Keioui Keijaun Thomas (US): Come Hell or High Femmes: The Dolls Rise

Keioui Keijaun Thomasin sooloprojekti koostuu kolmiosaisesta elokuvasta ja monitaiteellisesta esityksestä. Teos kaavoittaa post-apokalyptistä maisemaa.

Thomas kuvittelee aikaa, jolloin nuket – sana, jolla viitataan transnaisiin, jotka ovat niin virheettömiä ja rajoista vapaita, ettei heitä enää pidetä todellisina – ovat selvinneet joukkosukupuutosta. Miksi nuket ovat ainoat jäljellä olevat? Ehkä se johtuu siitä, että transnaiset (usein, m***a eivät aina) ovat syntyneet yössä, jossa kauneuden ja älykkyyden on opittava ylittämään aika ja paikka.

Thomas uudelleenkirjoittaa sen, mitä mustana oleminen luonnossa tarkoittaa, ja luo uusia tapoja elää rauhassa, ilossa ja toipumisen hengessä suhteessa maisemaan. Koreografia pohjautuu maisemien q***r-tulkintaan, naamioitumiseen ja muodonmuutokseen, jotka taiteilija näkee q***r- ja transihmisten selviytymisen ja selittämättömän tietoisuuden keinoina.

Kuopiossa teos koetaan Kallaveden rannalla festivaalin päätösiltana 19.9.2026.

The new solo project by is a three part film and multimedia performance. The work charts a post-apocalyptic geography.

Thomas imagines a time where the dolls – a word that, loosely, means a trans femme so flawless and unbound they are no longer considered real – have survived a mass extinction. Why are dolls the only ones left? Perhaps, it is because trans femmes (often, but not always) are forged in nocturnality, where beauty and intelligence must learn to supersede time and space.

Thomas reclaims what it means to be black in nature, forging new ways to exist in peace, joy, and healing in relation to the landscape. The choreography is based on q***ring landscapes, camouflage, and metamorphosis as modes of survival and transcendence for q***r and trans people.

In Kuopio, the performance will take place on the shore of the lake Kallavesi on the festival’s closing night, 19th September 2026.

Edessä on 25. ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival Kuopiossa. Osallistuminen ANTI-festivaalille on alusta alkaen ollut kokemus, joka mullistaa ajattelua ja käsityksiä taiteesta ja maailmasta. 25-vuotisjuhlavuoden ohjelmisto tutkii toisin katsomista ja esittämistä sekä tuo esiin näkökulmia festivaalin historiasta, tästä hetkestä ja tulevasta.

Juhlavuoden lisäksi ohjelmiston suunnittelua on siivittänyt festivaalin jatkuva halu tehdä tilaa marginalisoiduille taiteen tekijöille ja osallistua q***r-feminististen tulevaisuuksien visiointiin taiteilijoiden kanssa. Kolme festivaalin keskeistä paikkasidonnaista esitysteosta purkaa omilla tavoillaan q***r-elämiin liittyviä harhakuvia ja melankolian oletusta ja rakentavat elpymispaikkoja, yhteiskunnallista muutosta ja toivoa.”

🔥 ANTI Festival and New Performance Turku Biennale open a Call for Artists based in Finland for Live Art Finland Showcase 2027 🔥

The Kuopio-based ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival and the Turku-based New Performance Turku Biennale are launching a two-year collaboration and will present the new Live Art Finland Showcase as part of their festivals in the autumn 2027.

For the first time, the two leading live art and performance art festivals in Finland are collaborating and combining their extensive international networks. The festivals are inviting a group of prominent curators of live art and performance from around the world to Finland to explore works that have the potential for international touring.

👉 We are now seeking 6 solo performance art works or demo performances for the Live Art Finland Showcase programme from artists based in Finland who are at various stages of their careers.

The Showcase will be held as part of the New Performance Turku Biennale on September 10–12, 2027, and during the ANTI Festival on September 13–15, 2027.

Rakkaat Q***r-autonomisen vyöhykkeen asukkaat,

🌈 ennen kuin Q***r-autonominen vyöhyke julistaa itsenäisyytensä Kuopiossa syyskuussa, kokoonnumme piknikille! ☀️

Monet teistä ovat kertoneet, kuinka vähän q***r-ihmisille on tarjolla tiloja, joissa voi vain tavata toisiaan ilman rakenteita tai odotuksia. Tämä kokoontuminen on yritys avata juuri sellainen tila: epävirallinen ja osallistujien yhdessä ylläpitämä.

Kokoontumme, lepäämme, puhumme, ajelehdimme ja pysähdymme. Annamme vyöhykkeen alkaa muodostua.

Jos sää ei salli piknikin järjestämistä, siirrymme baariin tai kahvilaan. Pidämme teidät ajan tasalla.

🌈 before the Q***r Autonomous Zone declares its independence in Kuopio this September, we meet on the ground for a picnic! ☀️

Many of you have stated how few spaces there are for q***r people to simply meet, without structure or expectation. This gathering is an attempt to open such a space: informal and held collectively by those who arrive.

We will gather, rest, speak, drift, and remain. Letting the zone begin to form.

In case the weather on the day doesn’t allow the picnic, we will move to a bar or a cafe. We will keep you updated.

👉 Bring something to sit on.
Something to eat or drink, if you wish.
Or just yourself and friends!

Osallistuminen ANTI-festivaalille on alusta alkaen ollut kokemus, joka mullistaa ajattelua ja käsityksiä taiteesta ja maailmasta. Juhlavuoden ohjelmisto tutkii toisin katsomista ja esittämistä sekä tuo esiin näkökulmia festivaalin historiasta, tästä hetkestä ja tulevasta. Ohjelmisto julkaistaan toukokuussa.

The 2026 ANTI Festival is part of the Kuopio Art Weeks which will be held for the first time in the autumn. This unique collaboration between four organisations enables a nearly two-month-long multidisciplinary series of art events that can be experienced throughout the city.

Q***r-autonominen vyöhyke (Kuopio) on taiteilija Onur Tayranoğlun ja ANTI-festivaalin uusi yhteistyöprojekti, josta syntyvä paikkasidonnainen teos on julkinen seremonia Kuopion torilla!

Seremonia muuttaa torin väliaikaisesti huolenpidon, selviytymisen ja solidaarisuuden tilaksi, joka kunnioittaa q***r-elämää, -muistoja ja -vastarintaa, ja juhlistaa q***r-autonomista vyöhykettä Kuopiossa. Syyskuun 2026 tapahtuma on tarkoitettu q***reille ja heidän ystävilleen.

Q***r Autonomous Zone (Kuopio) is a new collaboration project by the artist Onur Tayranoğlu and the ANTI Festival. The project will produce a new site-specific performance, a public ceremony that will take place in September during the 2026 ANTI Festival!

QAZ is a ceremony that reclaims the format of national celebrations, such as independence days. But instead of honouring a nation or a state, this ceremony celebrates q***r life, memory, and resistance!

The ceremony will temporarily transform the Kuopio Market Square into a space of care, survival, and solidarity through our q***r bodies, stories, and collective presence. The event in September is open to q***rs and their friends.

🧡 Kuopion kulttuurikonepajalla, ANTI-festivaalin ja Future DiverCities 2 -hankkeen ylläpitämässä tilassa järjestettiin vuosien 2024 ja 2025 aikana yli 400 tapahtumaa, joihin osallistui yli 15 000 kävijää.

🧡 Kiitos kaikille, jotka olitte mukana suunnittelemassa ja järjestämässä toimintaa ja jotka osallistuitte tapahtumiin!

Kuopion kulttuurikonepajan toiminta päättyi 30.11.2025.

🧡 Jäljelle jäi kuitenkin Konepajan tekijöiden yhteisö, joka jatkaa toimintaansa!

Konepajan tekijät kokoontuivat helmikuussa ja päättivät tavata säännöllisesti kevään aikana. Tapaamisten tarkoituksena on uusien kaupunkikulttuuritapahtumien ideointi ja suunnittelu. Toimintaa ideoitiin mm. kaupungin eri sisäpihoille ja syyskuisen ANTI-festivaalin ohjelmistoon!

During the years 2024 and 2025, Culture Workshop Konepaja, a space organised by the ANTI Festival and the Future DiverCities project, hosted over 400 events, attracting more than 15,000 visitors!

Konepaja closed its doors on November 30, 2025.
