Last but not least ARTISTS SPOTLIGHT 🎤"Ava"

🎼Ava آوا – Poetry & Ambient Realms

A live journey where Persian poetry and live ambient soundscapes intertwine. Sadaf’s evocative verses and words meet Jesse Ukkonen’s immersive ambient music in a performance that invites you to experience language and sound as one flowing landscape.

Ava will hold a dance workshop on 15.08 called "Bodies as Borders" & "Bodies Beyond" offering participants to experiment with movements creating a unique physical experience. Alongside their workshop Ava will also perform on the 15th at Lapinlahti.

The 10th ME Jam Festival celebrates two days of music, dance, film, art, poetry, workshops, and more – bringing together artists from Finland and around the world.

This year, we connect the city from East Helsinki (Stoa, 14 Aug) to West Helsinki (Lapinlahden Lähde, 15 Aug), creating a shared space for culture and community.

Presented with KordAva Production in collaboration with Interkult, the City of Helsinki, and Lapinlahden Lähde. Also joining us: Mirsal ry, Kulttuurimaja Kamera ry, Pro-Lapinlahden Miitti, and the Middle Eastern Women’s Association with their own activities and spaces.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: DJ Renaz

Renaz Ebrahimi is a Kurdish-Finnish DJ, journalist and founder of popular Helsinki club concepts like Random Nights and SWANA Nights. Specializing in hip hop and R&B, her dynamic sets blend classics, fresh hits, SWANA sounds, afrobeats and amapiano.

Renaz is deeply committed to creating safer, inclusive club experiences and has actively promoted diversity and anti-racism within Finland’s nightlife through her influential work.

Her dedication extends beyond the DJ booth, making her a beloved and key figure in fostering vibrant and equitable club culture.

On 14.08 DJ Renaz will set STOA on fire with her magical set! See you on the dancefloor 💃🏻

Meet Marie Chantal & Rebecca Badiat, dancers from TribalTanssiKeskus!

🔸 Marie Chantal is a dancer and teacher specializing in FCBD® Style and Indian Fusion Bellydance. She performs and teaches actively at TribalTanssiKeskus and regularly takes part in international festivals and competitions.

🔸 Rebecca Badiat is an FCBD® Style dancer who also performs with the bellydance group Jawahir.

At the festival, they’ll perform a dynamic FCBD® Style duo, and Marie Chantal will also enchant the audience with a solo performance in Indian Fusion Bellydance.

🎭 Dance Styles in Brief:

✨ FCBD® Style (FatChanceBellyDance® Style)
An improvised group dance form where dancers communicate through gestures and cues. Known for strong presence, precise technique, and deep ethnic roots.

✨ Indian Fusion Bellydance
A blend of bellydance and classical Indian dance forms like Odissi. It features elegant movement, expressive gestures, and intricate rhythms.

Yalla Collective has been shaking up Helsinki’s party scene with their high-energy blend of dance-friendly electronic beats and vibrant SWANA* sounds. From Arab pop nights to dabke-driven dancefloors, their sets are a celebration of cultural fusion and rhythm.

🌍 United by diverse connections to the SWANA region, Yalla's DJs each bring a unique vibe—drawing inspiration from the musical landscapes of Damascus, Ramallah, Beirut, and beyond.

🔥 This time, they’re teaming up with NASHA for a special Hafla set packed with Arabic, Kurdish, Iranian, and other SWANA bangers. Expect a night of pure joy, bass, and beats that move the soul.

*SWANA = South West Asia and North Africa

We’re delighted to have ’Echoes Of The Plateau’ ensemble with MEJam fest on 14.8 in Stoa✨💫

From the Kurdish highlands to the Turkish steppes and the heartlands of the Arab world, one thing connects them all: the plateau. Echoes of the Plateau is a multicultural ensemble rooted in the musical traditions of Iran, Türkiye, and Arabic-world, celebrating shared heritage yet distinguished differences, through a modern lens.
