The European Schools Cross Country Open, taking place in Gran Canaria on February 19th 2014, includes high school boys and girls u/15, u/17 & u/19 races.

On the 19th of February 2014 the 1st European Schools Cross Country Open will be held in Santa Brigida, Gran Canaria. This event will bring together the best cross country high schools and high school athletes from all over Europe. No better day than World Environment Day to launch this unique event of athletics and environmental sustainability. On the 19th of February 2014 Gran Canaria will play host to an innovative festival of cross country racing and environmental projects. Secondary school students from all over Europe will lead the way on the land and for the land. Their inspiration through sport and education will strengthen our journey towards how we will run all our sporting events in the future here in Gran Canaria, and we hope the forerunner, and continuation, for others to follow suit.
