As the sun rises over Las Palmas, this Friday, The Long Walk begins a 3-day trek, coast-to-coast, over the highest summit on Gran Canaria, raising vital funds for our local food bank distribution, TheFoodProject.es, heading to the Faro de Maspalomas on Sunday at 7pm for a photo of solidarity. Please join us… better still make a contribution, and help the helpers, feeding families and finding paths out of poverty.

No matter the challenge, we work together to overcome it, please help.

We walk because not everyone can choose the mountain they face. We want to inspire them to keep going.

150k steps (approx), 80km, coast-to-coast, 1951m up, then down again, 3-days, rough terrain, over the highest summit on Gran Canaria, from Las Palmas 🌴 de Gran Canaria to Maspalomas, via Pico de Las Nieves, raising vital funds and awareness for families and individuals working to find pathways out of poverty. Thank you everyone who has been in touch, though we have kept very quiet, we are grateful for all the generous support we've had since having to suddenly cancel our main community event earlier in the year. We hope you can forgive...

Between illness, an unexpected death, some less than charitable shenanigans, and our favourite venue trying to more than double their take at the very last minute, we thought it best to go to ground while we dust ourselves off. There's a light,though, that just keeps on shining here on Gran Canaria and it is brighter than the you, or we or the sun...

We still have all of this year's nominations (thousands of them!), and will be accepting more as we once again review the 2024 short list, alongside our partners The Long Walk - Gran Canaria, The Canary News, The Canary Guide, Love Gran Canaria & Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria. Thank you to all of our sponsors for your wonderful understanding and continued support, you really do shine brighter than most.

We really look forward to making some new announcements soon.... but just wanted to warm the pot for what's to come later... in the meantime we urge you to support every pat on the back out there to the people who represent our island well.
