A Relaxing Day of Art, Nature & Beautiful Encounters!

Ready to escape the city for a little while?
Join me for a special outing to the countryside, where we’ll meet two fascinating artists!

Laura, a ceramic artist, and Barry, a painter, will welcome us into their beautiful home and studio in the hills of Uzhupud.
They will share the stories behind their artistic journeys.
Laura will also introduce us to her homemade kimchi and kombucha, and share her passion for gardening and the beautiful garden she is growing.

And who knows? Barry might even treat us to a few songs on his guitar to end our visit on a musical note! 🎶

🌳 Lunch & Leisure at Uzhupud Garden

After our visit, we’ll head to the charming Hacienda Uzhupud Garden for lunch. You’ll be free to choose whatever you’d like from the menu. Please note: Lunch is not included in the tour price.

After lunch, you’ll have an hour of free time to explore this lovely property at your own pace. Wander through the gardens, relax by the swimming pool, take a peaceful walk along the small lake, or spend some time watching the ducks and horses.

Then, we’ll make our way back to Cuenca, feeling refreshed after a lovely day of art, nature, and new discoveries. 🌿

🐝 [HONEY & CANDLE-MAKING AT THE BOTANICAL GARDEN] 🍯

Join us for a sweet morning with Sofía, the creator of Kina, a small-batch brand producing raw, organic honey, in Cuenca.

You will sample several of Sofía’s delicious honeys and discover the flowers and plants that give each one its distinctive flavors and aromas.

You will also get a closer look at an observation hive in the Botanical Garden’s biologist’s laboratory.

Then, Sofía will guide you through a hands-on workshop where you will make your own beautiful embossed beeswax candles!

All materials will be provided, and each participant will create three different candles to take home.

😌 [SOUND THERAPY WITH GONG] 🎶

I recently had the chance of experiencing this wonderful Sound Bath, and it was absolutely magical! The event was guided by Angeles & William, two incredibly talented and warm-hearted souls whom I am so excited to introduce to you!

A few months ago, they founded Sama Shala, a beautiful wellness space right here in Cuenca. They offer everything from Ayurvedic massages, meditation, and yoga classes to sound healing and personalized one-on-one sessions.

🎨 POP ART COMES TO CUENCA! 👨🏽‍🎨

Discover the world of Jesus Kahlo, an undiscovered talent until now, at RestoPub La Yunta.

Get ready for his first ever art show, a vibrant exhibition that brings together Pop Art iconic characters, bold colors, and unexpected combinations—a fresh and exciting addition to Cuenca’s art scene.

Jesus Kahlo may be the only pop art artist working in Cuenca. His muse is Frida Kahlo, but he also celebrates popular culture icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Betty Boop, Liz Taylor, comic book superheroes, Mexican Día de los Mu***os figures, and more.

👩🏼‍🎨 [ICONOGRAPHER & ART RESTORERS TOUR] 🖼️

Let’s start this tour with Martha, an iconographer, in her charming home-studio.
She will give us a fascinating presentation on what iconography is. How to read an icon? What is the Byzantine world view and its’ expression through iconography?

Martha will tell us about this fascinating universe, her tools, and the highly precise techniques of an iconographer.

Next, we will visit the two art restorers of the Museo de las Conceptas, housed in the former halls and infirmaries of the Cuenca’s oldest convent (founded in the late 16th century).

The conservators will welcome us into their studios and explain the conservation work they are currently doing. One specializes in painting, while the other focuses primarily on the restoration of wooden frames and sculptures. It's just breathtaking!

👩🏼‍🎨 [CURRENT ART SHOWS TOUR - JANDA GROVE & SVETLANA SOKOLOVA] 🖼️

Let's start this tour with the new exhibition by master painter Janda Grove. Her work explores the connection between humanity and nature from a spiritual perspective. Her paintings are inhabited by communities of women who discover and reclaim their power, by the symbolic presence of ancestors and guardians of the spiritual realm, and by the miraculous beauty of the earth and its many manifestations.

Come meet and listen to this fascinating artist! You can even acquire one of her paintings if you fall in love with one.

We will continue the morning with a visit to the new show and sale by the great artist Svetlana Sokolova. She grew up in Switzerland. Those landscapes were a major source of inspiration for her. Since Svetlana moved to Ecuador three years ago, the new colors and shapes of the Andean mountains have profoundly transformed her view of the world and her work.

If you have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Svetlana, you are about to get to know a radiant woman who infuses each of her paintings with joy.

Let’s start this tour with a museum of antiques, tucked away in Cuenca. This family, which has been collecting antiques for generations, has turned their home into a big museum brimming with their treasures. It’s impressive!

Next, I will take you to a beautiful shop that imports antiques from the Netherlands and Europe. Then, we will visit another one located in a huge historic house, featuring furniture and objects imported from all over the world (India, France, US...). If you are looking for unique items, you are in for a treat!

🫖 [ARTESA CERAMICS FACTORY TOUR] 🪴

Last week, I visited the factory of the famous ceramic brand ARTESA. What a wonderful surprise! It’s a really exciting place!

So I arranged a guided tour in English that will last about an hour and a half. We will start by touring the huge production area. We will have the chance to watch the artisans paint, draw, mold, sculpt, fire… as well as learn about the many other roles performed by these 35 employees, most of whom are women.

Next, we will visit the Artesa museum, which traces its entire history, from its founding in 1971 by the renowned Eduardo Vega. We will see the brand’s iconic pieces and how its styles have evolved over time.

We will wrap up the tour with a snack (a sandwich, a treat and a drink). You will then be free to explore the beautiful shop, where you will receive a 10% discount on all your purchases—exclusively during this tour.
You will also have access to the “bodega,” where you’ll receive 50% to 75% off items from past collections. Plus, you’ll get 25% off items with minor imperfections.
