Love, Power, S*x, and Addiction in the writings of Octavia E. Butler
A discussion of the complex interrelation between different kinds of connection and craving in stories written by the American SFF-author Octavia E. Butler, a master of the troubling and uncomfortable.

Claire Eliza Barlett is a writer of fantasy and science fiction for both children and Adults. As a young adult she traveled and studied history and archaeology, and she uses her experiences and learning to write history-inspired SFF. Pernille Lykke blogs and reviews at the Instagram profile Lykkes Læserier. Thought she reads all genres and formats, she has a penchant for speculative fiction and genre mixes with speculative elements.

Jane Mondrup writes various kinds of speculative fiction, including the alternate history novel Zeitgeist, the first contact story Zoi, and the children’s novel Vattes vandring. Apart from writing, she’s in the con committee for Vilde Universer in Aarhus.

Is there something hidden in the dark recesses of a woman's love for her offspring? And what is romance, if not literally 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑢𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔? And a little 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑠, 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑦 and 𝑏𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑦? We will explore these questions in this lovely and horrific panel.

Panelet stiller skarpt på fantasy-YA-forfatteren 𝑇𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑎 𝑃𝑖𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑒 og hvorfor hendes bøger stadig betyder så meget for så mange fantasy-læsere.
Vi taler om, hvad der gør hendes historier særlige, hvorfor vi elskede dem som unge, og hvorfor vi bliver ved med at vende tilbage til dem som voksne. Hvorfor har Tamora Pierce fået en helt særlig plads hos nordiske læsere? Samtalen fokuserer også på den særlige rolle, som 𝑘æ𝑟𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑒𝑑 og 𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑟 spiller i hendes bøger.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧

Lunar Punk is an 𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑓𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑡 subgenre of science fiction. It is based on cyclical narrative forms – the understanding that 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝐸𝑎𝑟𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑑, and should be recognized for their importance in the 𝐵𝑖𝑔 𝑊𝑒𝑏 𝑜𝑓 𝐵𝑒𝑖𝑛𝑔. Lunar Punk romanticizes the 𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 and imaginary energy.

𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐤𝐮𝐟𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐠 will go deep into the speculative and utopian world of Lunar Punk and explain how it started and where it’s going.

CherryTopHat will be presenting, for the first time at Fantasticon, their unique take on the theme Love in Fantastic Fiction which they are calling - How to Marry a Witch.

This illustrated talk will combine curated video clips with magical and mentalism effects and include excerpts from I MARRIED A WITCH, BEWITCHED, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE, THE LOVE WITCH and others.

CherryTopHat combine performed narrative with illusion, film and animation. Formed by writer, dramaturg and illusionist Anton Binder (AKA the English Magician) together with film-maker and burlesque performer Sally A. Ward (AKA Misty Glamoire the Burlesque Witch) CherryTopHat productions blur the line between movies, magic and theatre.
